from Comp USA Model Reviewed: Epson Stylus Photo 870 Summary: I'm not real please with the Epson 870, I have a Lexmark Z52 also. Printing scanned old photos, the Lexmark Z52 is by far better and the quality is good on most brands of Photo paper. With the Epson 870, the only great photos I've had are limited to the Epson Glossy Photo paper which is very expensive. I've tried HP glossy, Kodak glossy & Epson Matte and each time the photos are very poor quality. The reason I bought the Epson 870 was because I do photo scrapbooking, and the ink is suppose to last much better. Now, I've found out that the ink can have an orange tint after a very short time, so I am very very disappointed that I purchased the 870. It costs about $3.00 to print out an 8x10 page, which for scrapbooking is quite expensive, especially when I'm concerned as to when it's going to turn color. Strengths: Excellent color photos on Epson glossy paper Weaknesses: Uses lots of ink, poor quality on black & white photos, quality is very diminished on paper other than Epson glossy photo which is more expensive than other brands, such as Kodak.
