Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $275.00 from Curcuit City

Summary:

My experience with this printer has been frustrating and costly. We got the first unit, and immediately had to ship back for a replacement because the scanner would not engage at all after proper installation.

Tech support for this was slow and quite challenged in the language of English. Obviously outsourced to India, and proceeded to refer to the same troubleshoting guide I already had.

We got the replacement, and it still did not work well. None of the buttons on the unit actually work (except the power), so it has to be operated only from the PC.

This printer is a serious ink hog. I use it for personal art use, and print very little I am much more digital than analogue for references), so it seems strange to me that I'm always sent running to the store because one or more colors are always low or out. That in addition to the fact that the cartridges are $20 each.

The "Best Photo" setting? Dumps ink in a blazing red on the paper, and runs me out of ink, so I do not even use it. I shouldn't HAVE to send this thing back again!

Shopping for a better printer for my purposes and budget, and suggestions welcome.

Strengths:

Prints a nice photo---once the quirks in the settings are overcome.

Weaknesses:

Ink hog, mechanically flawed, unresponsive, bad tech support.

Customer Service:

Terrible--outsourced and incompetent

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $289.00 from Best Buy

Summary:

For the price I don't think you could ask for a better printer scanner copier all in one package. I usually research everthing I purchase and I found this to be a well advertised and reviewed printer. I admit it isn't the best you can buy, but it does a good job printing photos as well as scanning. I have scanned hundreds of photos and worked on them with photo shop and I think its a keeper. If you are looking for something to make prints for a photo show this is not the ticket stay with a PRO lab, but for home and sharing photos with friends, this may be what you are looking for!

Strengths:

Does a good job for the price. and ink cartriges are not that expensive.

Weaknesses:

Large but its three machins in one.
