Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $400.00 from Staples

Summary:

Have had several years of successful experience with this printer. It's a little dated by today's technology (no borderless printing), but is a real workhorse. Print quality is great. It's nice that you get a fresh, new printhead everytime you change ink cartridges. (Wish Epson had that feature.) As with all inkjets, ink cost can be a little high, but cartridges very easy to refill and re-use 3 or 4 times. I bought this mainly to have a large format (13x19) printer, and it's served me well! Of course, the better the original (higher resolution), the better the print. But even low and medium resolution images come out looking great on this printer. Very rugged, has never failed me. Doesn't always like thick media (heavy paper or card stock), but does fine with thinner stock. Back is removable if you need to print on something really thick. Prints everything from envelopes to transparency film without complaint. Reasonably quiet, reasonably fast. As I said, a nice, reliable old workhorse that will give you years of great service. Don't know what they go for used, but don't be afraid to buy a used one.

Strengths:

Wide carriage, great print quality. Makes great 11x17 or 13x19 prints! Never lets you down.

Weaknesses:

Wish it could do borderless.

Similar Products Used:

Epson, Canon

Customer Service:

Never needed customer service. It's never failed me yet.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $399.00 from Staples

Summary:

After owning this printer for nearly two years, I feel like I have run the gamut as far as different print jobs. I purchased it primarily because of it's wide format capabilities and included software which purported to do some neat things. After all is said and done this printer has lived up to it's claims and then some. Although not the only printer I have, I would be at a loss without it now. Highly recommend it. If you have a camera that will shoot high enough resolution, there is nothing like a large print to show off your handy work. We also use this printer to publish manuals and other publications which it is equally adept at doing. Whether you are using this printer for text or photos, you should be well pleased with it's results. Recommend it strongly.

Strengths:

Prints everything from postcards up to 13x19. Although inexpensive 11x17 papers are readily available, you will be hard pressed to find 13x19 paper in anything except really expensive photo paper in most retail stores.

Weaknesses:

High price for color ink cartridges. If you do much printing, everyone complains about inkjet cartridge prices. The only real complaint I would have is this printers inability to print to the edge of the page. We solved this problem by purchasing a large paper cutter which easily trims 11x17 and 13x19 prints.

Similar Products Used:

Several Canon and Hewlett Packard printers.

Customer Service:

Haven't had to use them as yet. Printer has worked flawlessly.
