Strength:

Very good quality (not outstanding) at ISO 100. Good quality at ISO 100-800 daylight. Very versaitile. Easy too handle. At higher ISO rates better than most other slide films.

Weakness:

IMHO, for any ISO rate there is a better product available, so this film is a little redundant. Problems with long exposures and artificial light. Quite grainy at ISO > 100.

This slide film is by far better than most people suggest. However, it depends how you use it (and for what). Very versatile film for daylight photography. I had problems whith long exposures (artificial light) at ISO 1000.

Strength:

Acceptable grain from 100-800, descent color rendition throughout. Very versatile film.

Weakness:

May get odd results with long exposures (read those spec sheets!) or with inexperienced labs.

I bought a bunch of this film to use in my antique Rolleiflex prior to a trip to Italy. I thought it would be good to go from indoor situations to outdoor without having a bunch of different types of film. I was very pleased with the results. I sent all of the film to A&I in LA, who I talked to before buying the film. They have many customers who have experimented with this film, and they have their own methods for developing it from that experience. They have adjusted all of their timing from the Fuji specs, so I just labeled each roll 100-800, and they took it from there. I shot about 15 rolls, about half 100, a few 200, and several 800, inside churches. I bracketed indoor shots because of the dimness, but several minute-long exposures at 800 came out very nice. The outdoor colors were very saturated, but acceptable. Skin tones throughout were very accurate, and the grain was very fine. (of course I used 120, and project it on an antique projector.) I scanned every roll, and they turned out well. If you see complaints from push-processors, ask them where they got it developed. Not every lab sees this stuff very often, A&I handled it well

Strength:

versality

Weakness:

flat and very grainy at el 1000

I have used this film in various conditions and like it very much. specialy in rock/pop concerts. Even though it is grainy the grains are very beautiful. The colors are good at 400 or 800. I would thoug not use it at 1000.

Strength:

This film is only good rated at EI 100-400. Prepare to be disappointed once you rate it at an EI of 800-1000.

Weakness:

This film simply does not live up to its hype. I''ve seen results from Fuji Provia 400F pushed to an EI 1600 that were much better.

I was sorely disappointed when I used this film. I had to do a three night photo essay on what goes on at night in an ER. Since I was discouraged by the hospital administrators from using a flash as much as possible, I was forced to shoot a lot using available light. I rated the film all the way up to EI 1000 and instructed the photo lab to adjust the processing based on how I had rated the film. The shadow details were muddy, and the colors were all muted.

Strength:

Versatile covers a lot of situations

Weakness:

Bit expensive

I think that Fuji must have changed this film recently. My results are completely different to some of the earlier reviews. I only tried this film when a UK magazine rated as the best at 100,200 and 400 ISO. After having read some of the reviews here I was not expecting much but the results at 100, 400, and 800 have been excellent. I get my slides processed at a lab that has experience of the film, perhaps that makes a difference ?

Strength:

For non-pro's who would rather shell out money for airfare rather than 2.8 glass, this film is an IDEAL compromise. Excellent results when shot at ISO 400 (pushed 2 stops). Held on to shadow detail and maintained accurate color even when pushed to ASA 1000 with indoor available light.

Weakness:

expensive. Probably not the best for skin tones. Graininess visible at IS0 400.

I disagree with the other reviewers: I find this film to be extremely versatile; showing surprising shadow highlights when used in natural light. I found it to render colors brighter than they really were; but not so saturated as Velvia. When I needed to push a roll 4 stops, I was flat out astounded with its quality. Nothing else in AGFA's Kodak's or Fuji's line would have done what this film did when pushed 4 stops.

Customer Service

Take the time and have a pro lab do the developing.

Strength:

Because it is a nice versatile film.

Weakness:

Color isn't as on like Provia or Astia. Plus the push processing is expensive. Better to use a 400 speed film for a 400 speed situation.

Save your cash and buy some Kodachrome 200 or Provia 400.

Strength:

I like the color palette, very similar to Provia F. A lot like the old Fujichrome 50 but more visible grain. Cheap if you can find outdated cold stored surplus somewhere. Flexible film, can be pushed to ISO 1000 (but I don't recommend it) It shoots well at ISO 100, contrast gets a little much at 200 and 400,.

Weakness:

GRAIN ! You get a little spoiled when you're used to shooting Velvia and Provia F. Color shifts in the green noticeable at 400, 800. Flesh tones are horrid at 400 and above.

I like this film a lot because I got it fairly cheap. I shoot it at 100 and it performs well at 100. I've pushed it to 200 with acceptable results, but at 400 and above the skin tones and contrast range are poor. Of course it might just be my home processing just isn't as good as the local pro lab :-)

Strength:

Versatile (ISO 100-1000)
Can be purchased cheap. I've seen a lot around that is near expiration or just past. (I bought 5 rolls of 120 refrigerated that was one month beyond expiration.)

Weakness:

Muddy color. Testing it at ISO 100 against E100SW (in 120 size) showed much brighter and seemingly more accurate color in the E100SW.

OK in a pinch or if you want flat color.

Strength:

Versatile, excellent colours and grain for a fast film.

Weakness:

Poor colours and grain for an ISO 100 film.

To compare this to a 100 ISO film is barmy. To use it at 100 ISO is barmy. This works great at 200, 400 or 800 - at all these speeds it is the best film I've tried (that includes all current slide films except Provia 400F). I use a lot of this, but it would never be my main film (Velvia, 100VS or Provia would be) - but it's great if you need a bit more speed.
