*Tripod holder is in the center of the bag, so it doesn't interfere with movement or balance.
*Waist belt and shoulder straps are thick and comfortable. I could wear this forever!
*Where the shoulder straps sit on your body can be modifed to ensure that the waist strap sits on your waist.(Important for tall people, no doubt!)
*Separate compartments for camera gear and your personal gear.
*It doesn't scream photographer (unless you've got your tripod with you!) :)
*There are compression cords to hold jackets, tripod, shoes etc...

*In setting the length of the shoulder straps, I've found that they have a tendency to slip. Over time this throws the balance of the backpack off. It gets a little annoying having to fiddle with the straps.
*The bottom compartment can only hold 1 camera system (35mm or medium format). If you want to bring both, you have to place your camera gear in the top compartment which is not padded (and also takes up the room for your jacket, food, film etc...)
*It's a relatively big bag which may be larger than some want to carry around. (Although it easily fits as carry-on luggage! )

I absolutely love this pack. Having the tripod rest down the center-line of the back is the way to go. It doesn't clip your arms, swing around or get snagged on anything.

I also enjoy the padding of the shoulder harness and waistbelt. Everything feels right when it's on you.

The only real negative is if you have more than one camera system, and you want to bring them with you. Since the pack is designed to have padded compartments in the bottom, and a separate compartment for clothes/drinks/film/whatever, by taking your additional cameras with you you're losing the benefit of the bag. It will certainly be an easy/comfortble carry for you, but your gear in the upper compartment won't be protected from a sudden fall. I think that if you like to carry multiple cameras systems, bags such as the LowePro Trekker series would be better suited to your task. Having said that, I regularly carry both my 35mm and medium format in the Rover.

All in all, this is a great bag and I heartilly recommend it! I can't wait to take it on a major photography trip!!

Well, it is a nice looking bag.

I suppose the tri-pod holder has advantages.

This bag is not what I expected at all. The combination of the seperate belt and shoulder strapa made for an uneasy fir for someone with very broad shoulders.

In addition, try throwing a 80-200 2.8 in this bag. Oops, sorry you can't. You'll have to throw it up top in the "food and clothes" section of the bag.

Even though I was able to purchase this bag way below cost, I still returned the bag to Lowe Pro for a refund. I think I'll go with the Reporter 400 or 500 and the new Orion AW.

Try it on before you buy it and take your equipment in to see if it will fit your needs.

Harness adjustments slip now and then; adjustments are fiddly.

Just used this bag every day for six weeks in Europe and it does the job for hiking long distances with one body and a few lenses. It's not a "kitchen sink" bag, and shouldn't be judged against them. I've kept my Photo Trekker, but haven't used it lately because the Street and Field is so comfortable. I wouldn't add any of the S&F clip-ons, because they would spoil the bag's streamlined shape and excellent balance.

Well planned design - zippers, pockets and dividers are all in good positions (and some of them can even be removed). Usual excellent Lowepro protection from dust/precipitation. The backpack detaches from the harness allowing you to retro-fit other street and field pouches.

It's a pain to adjust the shoulder harness to the correct length, so it is not useful to share between people.

One of the best bags I have ever used, if you have to carry a big SLR and a few lenses/filters/accessories around with you all day, as well as your lunch/guidebook/waterbottle etc. Obviously this is what it is designed for, and if you can get away with the luxury of having someone else carry your gear get something else that holds more. If you have anolder (smaller) SLR with less equipment go for a smaller backpack or shoulder bag, or if you're a pro and are carrying very fast very large telephoto lenses get something bigger (without the lunch compartment).

Gives you a good combination of photo stuff and food/ clothing to take with you.
Good tripod holder. Lots of space for small things (telephones, films, knives etc).
It can also be used a an ordinairy dayback.

Sometimes to small for lager lenses and camera's with motordrives/ batterycompartments.
The harness is sometimes dfficult to adjust. But this is a problem of all the S&F stuff.
The price is very/too high if you take into account that you only get a bag, not a daypack! You'll need to have (or buy) more S&F stuff to use it properly.

I favor this one over the mini trekker which is more dedicated to photo equiment than the rover.
In fact you get a quite good dayback for non-photo tours with this rover.
