    Strength:

Locks solid when it is sufficiently tightened

    Weakness:

I concur with the first review. After 4 decades of positive experience with Gitzo tripods, this thing is a real disappointment. The tightening knob requires so many turns to tighten and loosen, I avoid using it altogether. To make a small adjustment in camera position smoothly, I find that I must make at least six turns either way.

Woe is me. I paid full price for this in confidence that it would be up to traditional Gitzo standards, but it is not, it is a distraction, and neither small nor light to lug around.

    Strength:

    Stylish.
    Impression of quality.
    Stable.

    Weakness:

    Heavy.
    Jerky movements.
Not usable with long lenses (500 and up)

The item is heavy and looks impressive and goes well with the colors of the Gitzo carbon 1228 legs.
Supposedly, it is maintenance free with its Teflon coated surfaces.
It is stable and its weight could dampen vibrations.

After 4 years of use it is sticky and jerky, a real frustration if you want to frame a shot, let alone follow a moving subject.

It is not an item you should buy with your own money.
