    Strength:

self-leveling is fast and bubble for reference.

    Weakness:

Price and leg tightening mechanism. I find it faster to use a clamp than twist lock - also less fewer problems with grit. Wish Gitzo made an aluminum version as cost is more than double that of Manfrotto 755B and weight savings is not important for my use, in fact it is a negative as it makes the tripod more top-heavy with a camera and bracket mounted.

I purchased the 1227LVL tripod after first purchasing a Manfrotto 755B self-leveling tripod. Manfrotto design had severe deficiencies as bubble level is on tripod leg assembly and does not show degree of level of platform that holds the tripod head. To level camera need a shoe mount bubble just like any other tripod.

Decent capacity but still light. Good build quality compared to competing brands. Leveling feature is nice on uneven terrain.
