Strength:

Fairly light, considerably better to carry than the ultimative G1548 at little compromise in stability. Spike feet of 1325V are very beneficial.

Weakness:

Not as fast to handle as the Manfrotto, but that is not really an issue

After scanning the web for a lightweight but sturdy tripod suitable for long tele lenses, I finally decided for the G1325V, the "video" version which comes with retractable spikes. What a world of difference over the Manfrotto 441 carbon! A bit more weight, but probably the best compromise between low-vibration, versatility and weight. It is just tall enough for me but I was not prepared for compromising sturdiness and voted for the 3-section 1325 over the 4-section 1348. Expensive, but no regrets. The benefit of this tripod is visible in the images and that is what counts most. No problems with 500mm lens attached to a D70. I still favour the rapid clamps of the Manfrotto but the improved newer versions of Gitzo leg locks are quite ok to handle. Excellent partner for a Markins M10/M20 ball head, forming a hard-to-beat combo in all respect.

Strength:

Sturdiness, weight

Weakness:

nothing worth to mention

The best and most flexible tripod alive ! I use it together with the Burzynski-Ballhead, which is a massive German low profile head constructed for this tripod. It fits perfectly after removing the top plate. (http://www.naturfotograf.com/burzynski.html) This tripod is very sturdy and lightweight. And it absorbs vibration very well ! I use it with a 2,8/280 + 1,4x and 2x TC's. But you can use it up to 600mm or more. The leglocks are perfect and no problem to use, just apply no force. The legs are smooth ! Worth every penny. I also used sachtler tripods. They are extremely sturdy, but the Gitzo is more versatile and faster !
