Gitzo Leveling series 2 G1258LVL Tripod Tripods

Gitzo Leveling series 2 G1258LVL Tripod Tripods

DESCRIPTION

The Gitzo G1258LVL Leveling Mountaineer 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod uses advanced "Carbon 6X" carbon fiber material for its leg construction. This improved tubing is stronger, lighter and as resistant as its 12 layer predecessor. Carbon "6X" is manufactured using a complex, 3-D process weaving 6 layers of carbon fiber into smooth, solid constructed tubes. This Leveling tripod has a ball joint-mounted center column designed to let you get your camera perfectly level simply by adjusting the column inclination instead of having to set each leg individually. The G1258LVL is a remarkably rigid 3-leg section tripod capable of holding most 35mm & medium format gear and even most lighter field 4x5 cameras.

Strength:

Typical Gitzo excellence. The leveling mechanism surely adds some weight to the unit, but the ease with which one can level the camera, at least for me, makes the extra hoist acceptable. see: www.diamondseapools.com/about-us

Weakness:

none so far

Strength:

This is a great addition to to my older 1258lvl. The model numbering was different at that time, but it is the equivalent of a series 2 by today's standards. It allows the tripod to be set lower since that model didn't feature ground level set. I find myself trying to avoid raising the long column very high anyway to avoid shake. www.towtruckipswich.com

Strength:

The level installs in seconds simply by unscrewing the weight hook at the bottom of the center column, placing the level, and then rescrewing the hook. The level can easily be adjusted so that it does not interfere with the tripod legs when they are closed. - bhphotovideo (roofing contractor lenexa)

Weakness:

it only fits over the center column.

Strength:

Stable, lightweight. Typical Gitzo excellence. The leveling mechanism surely adds some weight to the unit, but the ease with which one can level the camera, at least for me, makes the extra hoist acceptable. I attached a Kirk head, which is lightweight, as well, to result in a backpackable pod. I wouldn't carry this all the way into the wilderness, but for short hikes, it is optimal balance between weight and stability.

Weakness:

The only real weakness is the slight additional weight of the leveling mechanism
