This is a great addition to to my older 1258lvl. The model numbering was different at that time, but it is the equivalent of a series 2 by today's standards. It allows the tripod to be set lower since that model didn't feature ground level set. I find myself trying to avoid raising the long column very high anyway to avoid shake. www.towtruckipswich.com

I attached a Kirk head, which is lightweight, as well, to result in a backpackable pod. I wouldn't carry this all the way into the wilderness, but for short hikes, it is optimal balance between weight and stability.

The only real weakness is the slight additional weight of the leveling mechanism
