Strength:

This is a well-made (like all Gitzo products) & very compact head.

Weakness:

It is not a true ball-head because it moves vertically along a single slot. Also rather expensive (like all Gitzo products).

Although this is a durable, well-made Gitzo product that fits well with smaller Gitzo tripods (like the G 126), it does not have all the features & convenience of a true ball-head.

Strength:

Very small and light, good match for small tripods. Well made.

Weakness:

Head does not tilt freely, but through a slit in the neck. This can be inconvenient. Expensive (although I've since found this for $85).

Good choice if you're looking for a compact and durable ball head with some rotation constraints. Shop around, this unit can be found for US$85 new online. At this price it's a good value, otherwise consider a Gitzo three-way head for $150.
