The shape of the Q-top shoe, with its low profile and internal engaging surfaces, assures it will never snag in a camera bag or on clothing. The press of a button on the circular Q-top base is all it takes to attach and release. There is no lever to further push for additional clamping force or combination of levers which need to be operated for release. And because the shoe and base of Q-top are similarly shaped, they can be quickly joined by feel alone.

Strengths: Quality metal and construction.
Weaknesses: Expensive!
Bottom Line:
Smaller and less bulky than the Arca-Swiss type mounting. I've used this well-machined piece with my 200mm f4 AF-D macro, 80-200 f2.8 AF-D, and 300 f4 AF-S lens. Works quickly with mounting and dismounting. Feels very secure with no play. I'm happy with the design.
