Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $430.00 from Dunne & Rundle

Summary:

This is a Review of the Gitzo G1340 3 section systematic Tripod. This is my second Gitzo. I also have a 2 series Basalt (GT2931). However with the addition of a Canon 400mm f5.6 I need something more stable and i also wanted something with eye level height . The first thing you'll notice about the G1340 is how stable it is! Even at it highest setting (153cm) it's one very stable tripod indeed. I've matched it up with a Kirk BH-1 with excellent results. Fit and finish are second to none. Why shell out big $$$$ on lenses and Cameras and get a cheap supermarket tripod? If you what the best out of your lenses a Good tripod like the Gitzo G1340 .

Strengths:

- very stable
- extremely good build quality
- no centre column for low work
- eye level height
- good solid leg locking
- large base for ballhead
- Simple Design

Weaknesses:

- A little long when folded down
- At 2.9kg it's about 800 grams heavier than a Carbon pod

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $230.00 from Warehouseexpress.com

Summary:

Gitzo 1345 Review This review is for the Gitzo 1345, which is the 4 section leg version of this product. Great tripod, built like a tank. I certainly don't miss the centre column. Great leg locks, work well in the field after a bit of practise.

Strengths:

Very sturdy even with 4 leg sections extended. Opens to a good height and works low down too. Very good build quality. 3 leg angle settings, set individually per leg. Top plate can be removed and or reversed - good for storage.

Weaknesses:

Wingnut style locks can get in the way for very low angle shooting or when carrying in a camera rucksack/tripod holder.
