Strength:

Durable, digital, cheap. Easy and simple to use. Camera can be used topside without case.

Weakness:

Camera flash is not strong enough for most underwater photography at distance or depth. You need to know your camera controls well before you get underwater and need to know which button does what.

Have used this system (olympus Pt019 case + olympus c-5000) on 6 dives and 8 snorkeling trips. Very good system for the cost. I paid $25 or the case and about $35 for the camera on ebay. I have had it 100 ft deep with no problems. Camera flash is no powerful enough to use very deep or for any kind of distance. Operation is simple and straight forward. Years ago I had a Nikonos film camera with external meter and flash that was much more difficult to use but the external powerful flash was great. This olympus system has its place for the recreational diver. You can use the camera on land without the case and can use the case rafting, diving and snorkeling. Get at least a 1 gig card and a couple of batteries and you are set for a lot of good pictures. I use photoshop to compensate for some of the color and low light problems. Used it cave diving but flash was not enough. Get a spare o-ring when you buy the case. A )second battery for the camera is great but not a must (you can charge over night).

Customer Service

good service from olympus when I ordered the case.
