$0.00 Summary: The Canon EOS 1V body is the best f35mm film camera ever made, even preferable to the Leica. With R and D going into digital mediums, probably people will be making the same statement about the 1V for years to come. Really, what is there to improve (?) Flash synch speed (?) Better to own a quality glass zoom with image stabilization and shoot sans a flash, if needed. This camera will shoot in conditions in which a top of the line digital camera body will not hold up or even function. such as extreme cold.
The camera is fast, quiet, and comfortable. However, fair warning, there are lots of bells and whistles on the camera, so you have to pay attention, which means check your settings before and during picture taking. If you hand off the camera to someone else to take a photo, someone with "monkey hands" in handling a camera, recheck your settings when it is handed back to you. That's the biggest performance problem you might have with this camera.
Why shoot digital if you can shoot Ilford BW, T-Max BW, Ecktachrome, Velvia and Provia, and archive. If you want to be real serious, drum scan the negative. Strengths: Build, speed, appearance, feel. good battery life. Weaknesses: None. Similar Products Used: Pentax ME Super, Canon EOS 3, some Canon digital bodies. Customer Service: Customer Service on this camera (?) Did you drop it from a second story window (?)
