Review 1 of 7

Price Paid:  $130.00

Summary:

The bottom line on reviewing any camera is the photo you bring home. Are my images sharp? Are my whites white? Are my colors bright and true? The answer is Yes. I work full-time and have 4 teenagers. I only have time for a point and shoot. I've had this camera for over two years, it's been dropped, kicked, and rained on. It has more scrapes than a two year old. Sure, I wish it fit a little better in my pocket and the optical zoom were a little stronger, but for color, clarity, reliability, durability, and $130, it can't be beat.

I came to this site today thinking it might be time to upgrade, but have decided against it. I spend hours viewing test and sample photos before I decide, and after thinking through this review and looking back at the photos I've taken, I think I'll stick with my beat up little PS A530 for a little while yet.

Strengths:

Photo Quality, Durability, Ease of use.

Weaknesses:

A little bulky in the pocket, and could use a stronger optical zoom.

Customer Service:

None needed.

Review 2 of 7

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Ebay Auction

Summary:

I bought the Canon A530 to use as a travel camera and general shooting. I have found it to be a great little camera. I took some great pictures in Las Vegas including night shots hand holding the camera. My 5 year old Grand daughter has used this camera and has taken some great photos that people have requested copies of and one even paid to get the photo. It is that easy to use, yet I have used it to take some team photos and sold them when I was on a shoot and my main camera quit.

As a travel camera it fits nicely into a fany pack or your purse. I even carry it in my pants pocket when my wife and I went out for dinner. I work for a newspaper and try to carry a camera with me at all times.

Strengths:

This is a great first time camera that will allow the person to grow into all its uses. There are several things that I like best about the camera and they are
-Quality pictures sharp and clear.
-Size easy to carry and fits nicely into your hand.
-Uses 2 AA batteries which are availabe world wide. I use rechargeable and usually shoot for the day on one charge.
-Has a 4X optical Zoom
-Price is comming down now $140.00.
-Many advanced features that are easy to access.

Weaknesses:

This camera has none that I have found. One of the best beginning-intermediate cameeras I have ever used (film or digital).

Price Paid:  $235.00 from Amazon.com

Summary:

Love this tiny camera. So easy to tuck in pocket or bag. So easy to get fabulous photos. Hard to believe it has all the whisles and bells at such a low price. The manual can be downloaded and enlarged to make studing easier. Bought it from Amazon.com for best price.

Strengths:

Good night shots, Great indoor and landscape shots with a bit of study of manual. And very easy to dial in changes without needing manual. Can't beat the software that comes with product

Weaknesses:

This model comes with 16 mb SB card. Need at least 1Gb

Review 5 of 7

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Wal-Mart

Summary:

This is my first digital camera.WOW !! Right out of the box this thing takes great pictures !! As a first time user I found it easy to use.Once you get past the auto mode, It has many features to play around with and makes a good camera for learning the ropes.. so to speak. I did find this camera not to be very good for action shots as the delay between pictures is rather long, but have kinda gotten around that by setting the camera so it takes 3 consecutive shots, and they're one after another with no delay. Also found it eats regular and cheap rechargeable batteries fast. Get a "good" set of rechargeable batteries and you should be set.It hasn't been a problem for me since I did.Haven't tried the movie mode yet so can't say much about that feature. Overall I love the camera and felt it was a good buy. Definitely makes a good all around easy to use camera that takes great pictures.

Strengths:

easy to use

has many options / features

good picture quality and the macro works awesome

I think it has a good optical / digital zoom level ( higher the optical the better)

with the supplied software, cables etc..uploading pictures is easy as pie

Weaknesses:

delay between pictures ( maybe my sd card ??)

This may be just me, but I think the picture quality fades with full zoom. I May need to do some fine tuning with the settings in manual mode maybe.(once I learn how)
