Summary:

To my surprise my wife had bought Casio QV 11 a few months ago. I hooked it up to the computer and was shocked that the camera would not take 640X480 resoloution pictures (320X240 only). If you are writing a personal homepage to post on the web then this camera would barely be aduquate. No professional web site writer in his right mind would use this camera for any commercail purpose. The camera even lacks a flash! As John Arbuckle once said, you do get what you pay for.

Strengths:

Not many

Weaknesses:

no flash, amatuer quality resoloution

Review 2 of 37

Summary:

I had a fun time using this camera. Setting up and ease of use combined with fair pisture quality made my experience enjoyable and made me hungry to get my hands on a better camera. The idea that I could take a picture put it right onto my computer and print it out possibly led me to overlook some of the more noticable short comings of this particular model. It was not dificult to use and the service staff was kind and very helpful in helping me work out little bugs I experienced in loading the software on my system and they even gave me some good advice in taking a better picture.

Strengths:

Ease of use.

Weaknesses:

fair picture quality, some trouble with loading the interface software.

Similar Products Used:

none to compare, except for CVS conversion processing to cd rom.

Customer Service:

very courteous and helpful.

Review 3 of 37

Summary:

This is a good camera, easy to use. Customer service leaves much to be desired, but that is no fault of the camera. For the resolution, the images are great. The features it does have are nice. I do think that this camera is a little pricey, but it's served me well for the last 3 years. (I bought mine at $329.00 which nowadays, you can buy much more camera for the same price) (Note about picture: This picture was taken 2 years ago in the Nevada desert at Burning Man. It was 122 degrees F during the day, (hence the harsh light)...I suppose in hindsight I could've used the daylight filter, but I wasn't thinkin'...I just snapped the picture..hehe, and you can always edit the lighting in photoshop, or something similar...

Strengths:

High shot capacity (96) Ease of use Easy to follow menus Can few multiple images in playback mode through tiling. Nice software bundling

Weaknesses:

Serial Cable downloads Low res photos (320x240) Lack of user support from Casio cumbersome Twain drivers proprietary .CAM format

Similar Products Used:

Sony Mavica (still and mpeg cameras) Kodak (forget model number) Various other digitals

Customer Service:

Casio's customer service absolutely SUCKS. My Twain driver disk got corrupted somehow, and tried to find a download link on Casio's website to download it again, or find an updated driver. No success. I called their Customer "service" line, they hung up on my 4 times. When I finally got ahold of someone that knew what I was talking about, they said, "Well if your camera is still under warrenty we can send you a new driver, otherwise you'll have to buy the software package" (which at that time was $69)...needless to say, for that very reason, and their lack of wanting to help their customers to make sure they KEEP them as customers makes me want to never buy another Casio product again. (and I haven't since then). Luckily I knew someone that had the identical camera, and I copied the driver from them, because without the twain driver, the camera is useless and I refuse to but something twice. Casio should've had a driver download, as this is the industry standard.

Review 4 of 37

Summary:

This camera is a good solution for quick shots for your web site, it is not for the serious photographer. The resolution is 320x240 and that's it, but taking this into considering the quality of the shots are acceptable at this resolution. Some nice features like the ability to upload pictures to the camera to be used for display/presentation makes it a useful slideshow tool, and the reversible lens is a nice feature allowing you to frame your subject even if the subject is you. The lack of a proper viewfinder makes taking pictures in bright sunlight difficult because of the glare on the LCD. The biggest complaint I have is the construction, the battery door broke on my camera in less than two months! I cannot recommend this camera unless it is a gift or <$40.00.

Strengths:

Small, Video out, 96 Pictures

Weaknesses:

Eats batteries, slow time between shots, week battery door

Summary:

This is a nice little camera for the beginner. It is easy to use and the rear LCD display makes finding your image a snap. It is simple to delete unwanted pictures, and easy to download into the computer. We have taken many pictures of our children with this camera and downloaded them onto the computer. They make great backgrounds, and using Adobe Photoshop or Corel Photohouse you can make personalized cards to send to Grandma & Grandpa and other interested relatives. The pictures we have printed out have been of good quality. I have enjoyed using this camera, and am looking forward to using it for more projects in the near future.
