Summary:

Good camera for beginning digital photography. Reasonable price, resolution is adequate for pictures for web sites, still shots for video editing. Software included is easy to use -- pictures may downloaded to other software programs as well.

Strengths:

Works very well outdoors & where zoom feature is not necessary. LCD preview of pictures immediately allows unwanted pictures to be easily deleted to make room for new pictures.

Weaknesses:

Inadequate for indoor. low light situations - No flash . No memory cards -- pictures must be saved to PC when camera memory is full. This can be a problem when away from PC.

Summary:

Good friend Dick Monson purchased the CASIO QV 120 at a swap meet for $175. After trying to use it (yes, read the manual) for several weeks he gave it to me to try to figure out:1. Very poor indoor2. Very poor outdoorAfter finding out that at the local Vaule Added Retailerthat over half were sold and returned Dick told me tokeep it.Maybe one shot in fifty is worth keeping. But it doesteach you how to use image editing software!

Review 3 of 12

Summary:

I purchased my QV120 from an online auction for $179 thinking I got a really good deal. For the price I really could not go wrong. When I initially received the camera it did not come with any directions so it took a couple minutes for me to figure out how it works. Being a computer expert, it wasn't that bad to figure out. All the reviews about the indoor pictures being dark are very true. However if the place is properly lit they come out well. Where the QV120 shines is in its outdoor shots and close ups. This camera is incredible for macros, you can get right on top objects. The television mode is also very impressive. It is nice showing friends and family what you did on vacation instantly instead of waiting for film to develop. The camera does KILL batteries. I bought some Rayovac rechargables and they work great. Another complaint I have is the slow transfer time to the PC. It takes a full 60 seconds to QV Link a fine image. If I could do it again I would probably invest another $75 to $100 to get a camera with a flash and maybe a little more memory.

Review 4 of 12

Summary:

Over the past month, I have tried a Casio QV-30+, QV-120, QV-200, QV-700, Minolta Dimage Pic, and Fuji DX-7. I will probably put up brief reviews of each one. After using this camera, I can't even imagine what Casio was thinking when it put it on the market or what made them think anyone would be satisfied with it. Not only could the camera not take any indoor pictures whatsoever (a task which was possible with both the QV-30 and QV-200 models), but even outdoors, conditions had to be just perfect or pictures came out looking totally horrible. At best, pictures were really bad - usually containing many artifacts, extreme amounts of contrast, and little or no color. The physical design of the camera was good and easy to use, but what good is it if the pictures are pathetic.

Review 5 of 12

Summary:

I find this camera takes good picture outside, but is really bad inside or in lower light conditions. I also dislike the QV-link software and find that there is almost no support for it thruough Casio. A firend borrowed it do take a bunch of outside shots and liked it very much. Had not rouble with the downloading either. Eats batteries.....
