Price Paid:  $800.00 from Fry's

Summary:

I have had this problem for many months. After taking many pictures the display gets darker and darker till the picture can not be seen in the LED display. The picture is also as dark. Had the camera sent in twice for the same problem and always comes back with no problem. I am not a novice and wouldn't by another Casio again.

Strengths:

I like the camera because at the time I bought it I could use my 340 MB IBM microdrive. Never have to change cards.

Weaknesses:

Will not focus in low light and no manual focus.

Similar Products Used:

Tried the Cannon G5 and would recommend it to all who like taking good pictures of all types and it has manual focus as well.

Customer Service:

Have Fry's service but can not talk to service personal, so nothing gets done right.

Review 2 of 50

Summary:

This is my second reveiw of this camera. I have had some of the mechanical problems that I feared would happen, as mentioned in my first reveiw. The zoom button broke and took months of backorder time to get it replaced. I fear that this is happening to everyone that uses this camera to any extent. I still have not gotten to the point where the autofocus is reliable. Still will not focus in low light. Paint on case wears off and looks cheap. Have had a few memory write errors that cause image lose.

Strengths:

Features and camera operating system and interface is great.

Weaknesses:

Mechanical items, these things should not wear out this fast. A camera is created to be used, the materials should hold up to this useage, don't you think? Auto focus problems that I have not been able to figure out. Manual is no help, web site in no help either.

Similar Products Used:

None

Customer Service:

Bad, I got shuffled to six differant phone numbers when tring to find a replacement part. Parts sales person is slow and I am not sure he understood what part I needed even after explaining it to him. Part I need was damaged in an accident so this was my fault, but it costs twice what Pentax charges for there LCD.

Review 4 of 50

Summary:

Good Camera... great quality for the price range. Could and should be better packaged.

Strengths:

For a 2.11MP camera, I got a pretty good deal. The photos came out quite good. It has quite an big set of options for filming.

Weaknesses:

Looks cheap. Drains power fast. The actual picture comes out larger than the range in the viewfinder and the LCD. The lens cover mechanism needs a definite change... Most of the time it feels like its going to break. The software is completely useless(except for the photo loader). The flash unit doesnt auto-retract as mentioned in the manual.

Customer Service:

Customer Service is not helpful at all. Called regarding corrupted software and they refused to give support for any third party software.

Review 5 of 50

Summary:

When I went hunting for a digital camera, I read all the reviews... everywhere. Then, I bought the Casio QV2000UX. At the time it was what I call a "sleeper". Other cameras, like the Nikon Coolpix 950 and the Olympus 2020 were out at the same time, and they were outrageously priced. Casio's previous cameras were never that good, so when they came out with the 2000 I guess they figured they couldn't price it like the bad boys... Actually, the price started fairly high, but I bought it for $399 in March of 2000. A special deal with a rebate from CompUSA if I remember right... Anyway, I was a raw beginner when I got the camera. Actually I probably could still be considered a beginner. I haven't really taken the time to learn the camera's advanced features because it does such a Fabulous job in Auto mode. A co-worker brought in some photos for me to scan and print on our photo printer. Then for the fun of it I took a digital picture I'd taken of her at the Christmas party and printed it too. The printout of the digital photo was crystal clear... Just beautiful, at 8 x 10. This wasn't the newest or best of photo printers either! I have a coolpix 950 here at work. The Casio takes better pictures. I sent the coolpix in once because I figured there Must be something wrong with it... the reds etc. were hypersaturated. I got it back and it was a little better, but still not as good as my casio.

Strengths:

Fabulous pictures.

Weaknesses:

Sometimes the flash auto/on/redeye gets stuck so I can't turn it back to auto. I haven't been able to get it to do five rapid shots.

Similar Products Used:

None

Customer Service:

The customer service for casio isn't very good. That's the one bad point of this camera.
