Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $419.00 from uBid

Summary:

Casio QV 3EX is a good, easy to use camera. uBid offered the camera with an IBM 340MB microdrive, which has the capacity for nearly 1,000 medium resolution pictures. Several issues about how the camera works are not clearly spelled out - the use of reduced SIZE setting also reduces the pixel density and thus the quality. I took over 900 medium resolution pixs on a recent bike trip down the Danube from Germany to Vienna. The camera delivered consistent, good quality daylight shots and lesser quality flash and low light shots. One thing to remember when using the camera, the picture is not caputerd until 1-2 seconds after you press the button to snap the shot, so others using your camera will typically move the camera before the shot is captured. Considering all of the positives and negatives, for $400 this is a great buy. I also owned a Fuji 4700 and a Sony Mavica F75. Battery life is much better than most cameras used and tested, however, if you are traveling, you will need a second battery, which is about $40 from Casio.

Strengths:

Point and shoot on Automatic delivers good quality snaps.

Weaknesses:

No optical zoom.

Review 3 of 3

Summary:

This is a great camera. Excellent resolution. Lots of advanced features. Very user-friendly. The EX+ refers to the camera with IBM 340mb Microdrive which delivers 245 images at full resolution (2048 x 1536). This camera is a sleeper in the over 3 megapixels arena. Ask me how I got it for $699 WITH the Microdrive. An absolute steal.

Strengths:

Quality of images Ease of use Advanced features

Weaknesses:

Manual is only "okay"
