Review 3 of 4
Summary: My background: years of casual usage of SLR cameras for personal projects.
I found that the Casio, from its specs, and from seeing demo models in store, seemed to incorporate the best features of the other cameras which I was considering for purchase. Now that I have purchased one, I find that it really is jam packed with useful features.
The elements I found essential were it's excellent lens, which captures alot of light, and includes 8x optical (up to 32x digital) zoom; that it is comfortable to use; that the LCD screen and menu options are really easy to use; and that it takes regular AA batteries.
I have only begun to take images and cannot review the quality of these as yet, however I felt that an early review would be appreciated by those considering the camera. [please take this into consideration when my rating of 4 is listed below for quality of images - with what I have seen, I have been happy with, so far]
Connection to PC (win 98) using a USB port and the supplied drivers was fast and simple.
In conclusion, as my first purchase of a digital camera, the Casio is very fully featured and user friendly. It incorporates many of the strengths of other cameras in the 2megapixel and 4 megapixel ranges. It certainly is good value for money. Strengths: excellent zoom
comfortable
excellent and intuitive menu interface
uses regular AA batteries
comprehensive and informative user manual
remote control
takes AVI video Weaknesses: only an 8MB card supplied
user manual is on disc only Similar Products Used: a borrowed Olympus 1Mpixel camera
Sony 3Mpixel and Kodak DC4800 demonstrated in-store Customer Service: not used
