Strength:

Dotphoto provides a quality product quickly and at a reasonable price.

Weakness:

None.

In the approximately ten years I've used Dotphoto they have consistently filled my orders quickly. The very few problems that have cropped up were taken care of quickly and very favorably for me, whether the fault lay with me or them. Every time I've contacted customer service, I've received a response to my call or email and a solution was reached within 24 hours. I've had no trouble at all downloading thousands of my photos that were lost due to an accident in my home storage.

Strength:

Beats me. I don't see anything unique about this service. Really has a homespun feel, and I don't like that. The prints are of average quality and the prices are the same as anyone else's.

Weakness:

No customer service. Average quality prints. Uninspired packaging. The annual storage fee in this day and age is ridiculous. You can store all the pics you want for free on Flickr and many other sites. Antiquated to say the least.

Formerly good company that seems to have fallen off the rails this fall. I placed a couple orders in September and October 2015 and they took absolutely forever. Had a few bad prints and tried to reach customer service and it literally took about two weeks until someone called me.

With all the great photo sites out there I don't see any reason to use this service. It's old and dusty and has a very lowbrow, homespun feel to it. The printing is obviously outsourced. The quality is mediocre at best. The packaging is uninspired. The prints don't come in any sort of order. The prices are no lower than other places so I'm sure what's in it for the customer.

Strength:

Weakness:

everything, customer support, treatment of expired accounts.

Once your account expires, you have to pay to retrieve your pictures on SD card, (for 9K photos I was quoted close to 90$). Or you have to reactivate your account and pay for another year. Their "terms & license" agreement doesn't provide full coverage for such as it states only discontinuation of service, but doesn't provision for "holding your property (pictures) hostage until you pay". When contacting their online support, responses were quick, but out of the ballpark. All the way up to the tone of "what does she want and what did she expect from us"....
They already have 45 BBB complaints and I am opening another one as they should release account holders property (which are pictures) without additional subscription even if they terminate service.
There are too many other sharing sites which are much better to waste your time with dotPhoto.com

Strength:

NOT ONE AT ALL!
They are great at ripping you off!

Weakness:

Corrupt business model stealing from average citizens.
There are actually charities being ripped off that used dotPhoto for fundraising purposes. That makes these people operating dotPhoto criminals in my opinion.
This is a repeating business plan that is being perpetrated on quite a few good citizens.
They should be thrown in jail for theft.

Google this: dotphoto+facebook+problems to see proof that charities are being ripped off.

As of late April 2011, dotPhoto owes me $500 in commissions earned through sales on their site. They made their money but will not pay their members. Money is owed since December 2010.
This is a PONZI scheme evidently because in the reviews at this site, there are complaints about not paying commissions dating back to mid 2008.
I received about 4 commissions in the year that I used them to sell portraits from events that I shoot. Now I am the one not getting paid.
Google this: dotphoto+facebook+problems to discover that others are also not getting paid and cannot get any form of customer service that qualifies as "professional".

Customer Service

Doesn't exist. They lie to you if you can get a response at all.
I've been told 4 times that my commission will be paid soon, only to never see it happen.
I've left phone messages and never had a response.
I've filed at least a dozen complaints through their online system and only 4 times have they had the guts to reply.

Strength:

Weakness:

No customer service...no person to speak with, no response to complaint tickets, no response to Better Business Bureau inquiry. They owe me hundreds of dollars and are just ignoring all of my entreaties. I am outraged!

Under no circumstances should you use this company if you are a photgrapher looking to sell pictures and earn commissions. Prior to the takeover by MyPhotoalbum service was respectable. Now it is fraudulent to say the least. I am now going into my fourth month without receviing the commissions they post on their website that are due to me (currently approaching 800 dollars).. No phone response, no answers to their complaint tickets. Nothing!
I filed a complaint with the BBB of NJ and Dotphoto did not respond within the 30 day window. Now complaint is with the Dept of Consumer Affairs in NJ and if that doesn't work I'm filing a suit against them in small claims court.
Be wary of this company that once stood for decent service and is now just operating without any scruples or decent sense of fair play.

Customer Service

Beyond dreadful. There is no customer service. You might as well be talking to yourself.

Strength:

Pre-2008, they were reliable and batches of photos ordered returned back consistent results.

Since 2008, we've been disappointed with them. dotPhoto use to process everything in NJ and we would get them quickly. Sometime in 2008, it appears that they were merged with or acquired by MyPhotoAlbum. After that, the photo prints seems to be coming from some company in Texas. Processing now takes a lot longer. Our Christmas holiday cards took a month to get! And that is only after repeated e-mails asking about them. The canned responses were they are "being processed." For 4 weeks?!?!?!

Overall strengths now (post 2008) ... maybe their prices (even that is not as competitive as before, there are many who are just as good and cheap).

Weakness:

Absolutely no concern for customer's photos. They will delete albums without warning. They do not even have means to restore from a backup when albums are trashed by the system. Not even if they are reported within 24 hours.

DO NOT rely on dotPhoto is you wish to retain photo albums online.

dotPhoto's album password security is a joke.

DO NOT use dotPhoto or MyPhotoAlbums if you care about your online digital content (your photos). Their system would randomly delete albums, even newly uploaded ones, without any warning.

Talking customer service? Yeah right, you get a "sorry the mailbox of the person you are trying to reach is full, please try again later" and it hangs up. So if you want to call 609-643-0090 x400 (the same as pressing 1 for customer service) and listen to that everytime, have fun.

E-mailing customer service at support@dotphoto.com is pretty much useless. They either reply back with canned messages treating you like an idiot or continue to think of some excuse that it is your fault.

In my case, all of my albums except the last 2nd (not even the last one) uploaded was deleted overnight (well actually in about 10 hours). All of my older albums and the most recent one was deleted. Asking dotPhoto to restore them goes on deaf ears. They just stopped replying to my messages.

So in the end ... if you care about your treasured family photos, do NOT rely on dotPhoto to keep them online for you.

Customer Service

Absolutely no phone support. You get a message that the mailbox is full, then it hangs up on you.

E-mail customer support (support@dotPhoto.com) returns canned replies from telling you that you deleted your own photos, had given someone your password and they deleted your photos, or used an easy to guess password and the "hacker" deleted your photos. Another more ridiculous response is that your photos were corrupted and a "clean-up" process removed them. Oh sure, something that has been in your system for over a year (where prints were made from those images) is now mysteriously "cleaned" off the system by the dotPhoto system. Sounds to me like there is a problem that dotPhoto just does not want to care about.

Weakness:

Customer service and call backs. Customer relations.

Watch out for, DOTPHOTO.COM. I am extremely frustrated with this company. I have been in the photography business for 8 years now and have used another site online with GREAT service. But being in a growing field with online developing, I thought I would take one of my photo session events and check out Dotphoto.com. Boy did I make a mistake! Did my event in Nov. 2008 and it is mid April 2009 and still have not received my comission. I have called on 4 different occasions receiving only a voicemail, during normal business hours, and have left detail messages and NEVER received any return calls. On top of phone messages I have e-mailed their customer support and NEVER received a respoonse from that either. Then to top it all off, I FINALLY got a ahold of a human being today and he was rude! Telling me they ALWAYS answer their calls. Calling me a liar in so many words. I said interesting and gave him the information of how and how many times I have contacted and still this isn't resolved. He had the nerve to tell me that they sell to 1000's of photographers and never have communication issues. Wow, Never?? Strong word. I told him I just want my money and could he fix this issue. He still had nerve and told me it was10 minutes before they closed and I would have to wait until after the weekend, on Monday and he will look into it Did not take any additional information to contact me. Just hung up!! Please be careful! I work for a internet company where our number one goal is our customer and communication! They can get a hold of someone 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. That is what customer service is all about!

No customer service by telephone!!! Poor quality photographs!

I have used dotphot for the last 5 years and have become increasingly frustrated with thier service, when you have a problem you can not get anyone on the phone and they refuse to give out a customerservice number when you email them I am going to find another site to do business with. I have experienced low quality prints in addition to the SUB-STANDARD SERVICE.

Customer Service
