Summary:
We call this our party camera. Everyone can pick it up and within minutes they are running around snapping shots. The easy link to our TV VCR lets us put on a quick showing of the photos. The quality is excellent for the price. In fact, we bought two during a Ubid.com auction and got them for $189.00 each. Make sure you have at least an 8mb media memory.

Strengths:
ease of use, quality of image

Weaknesses:
get the floppy adaptor and more memory.

Review 2 of 37

Summary:
Here's my story... I wanted to start with photography, but I'm kind of impatient when it comes to art and waiting for the film to develop to find out how the picture ended up, and knowing my personality and the fact that I liked computers, I decided to get a digital camera. I had a limited budget/I didn't want to invest a ton into an expensive camera, plus I was a beginner, so I wanted something to start off that wouldn't feel limitting, yet would not put me over the top with excess features that just made it cost more (or features that I wouldn't find a use for until later). I read plenty of reviews and decided on this camera, the Fuji DX-10. I also read about people getting a coupon for a Floppy disk adpater (the FlashPath) which I luckily found a month or so before the offer expired. Paid $300 at Sears a over a year ago. Affordable, but not so affordable that it wasn't worth getting. Since I'm so picky, I needed a camera that did enough of what I wanted, and this does. Still very satisfied overall.

Strengths:
Affordable, but not so affordable that it wasn't worth getting. Since I'm so picky, I needed a camera that did enough of what I wanted, and this does. Still very satisfied. Nice and small, looks like a 35mm camera. Nice grip. Optical viewfinder pretty useful (saving batteries, sunny places, etc.). Comes with a good display on the back, decent resolution (switches between 640x480 and 1024x768) good color, good sharpness. Read weknesses for things to look for (if you are picky or end up needing more, like me).

Weaknesses:
Problems with movement (large delay before picture actually taken) and low lighting without a flash (ends up blurry). Eats batteries (most cameras probably do :-) but problem is easily solved with some nice NiMHs and a charger. No zoom (digital zoom works fine, for what it offers). VERY slow download over serial, but great with a Floppy disk adapter (FlashPath, or proabably a USB reader), but livable.

Similar Products Used:
I ended up supplementing the _small_ 2MB card with an 8 MB card, and eventually a 16 MB card (which it supports, contrary to the documentation, etc.) The camera works great with the FlashPath floppy adapter (which is also compatible with the 8MB and 16MB cards, contrary to what the documentation says). Can't really compare to a 35mm or other camera, since this is my first, but this camera allowed me to get to what I would consider an intermediate stage in photography. Hoping to get an Olympus 3000 Zoom (when I get the cash)... it has all the features I want. Also, don't get this camera (I don't know that they sell it anymore)... get the newer camera, the MX-1200, identical (I think) but comes with 4MB and has higher resolution; I saw it new for $200 (some reviews say $150 after rebate).

Customer Service:
N/A I had no significant problems with this camera (and I'm kind of a do it yourself-er) but it looks like it wouldn't be a problem.

Review 3 of 37

Summary:
I am definatley a beginner digital camera user, and after exploring reviews and best buys on digital cameras i choose the FUji DX-10, for its price/value/options, dx10 is very easy to use, it takes great picture, I paid about $275.00 through QVC and this camera takes every bit as good as pictures as my friends much more expensive cameras. I use this camera to take family pictures and send photos over the net to freinds and family all over the world. The only problem that i have had with my camera is that i could never get it to download directly to my home pc and after calling fuji direct and my comp company direct it was determined that i needed to purchase the flashpath adapter(31/2" disc adapter) which i paid for myself, fuji could not determine the cause of the problem. I purchased the camera before the flash adapter coupon was available, which tells me that fuji knows there is a problem with downloading directly to the pc. Otherwise the camera has performed greatly for me and has satisfied my needs, low light on auto does produce dark pics, and regular akaline batteries do not last long when using monitor and flash.

Strengths:
small, compact, ease of use

Weaknesses:
had problems with downloading directly to pc, but now use disc adapter which is no problem

Summary:
The Fuji DX10 is useful as an entry level camera only for snap shots only. Best for outdoor shots or close up indoor shots. Good starting point to get into Digital Photography but loses out rapidily if you try one of the higher capability cameras.

Strengths:
Cheap & easy to use.

Weaknesses:
Flash photography is questionable.

Customer Service:
Send the camera in for service, no real help on line.

Review 5 of 37

Summary:
I think that the Fuji DX-10 is a wonderful camera. The picture quality is outstanding for the 1024X768 resolution. The pictures come out great when printed as 5X7 prints on my HP Photosmart printer. Even the pictures taken on 640X480 come out very nice for 3.5X5 prints. The controls are very easy to learn and the dial is very handy. The flash strength has a setting when used in manual mode which I have never seen before on a digital camera and I've done alot of research and have owned quite a few The ability to preview a picture while in manual mode is another benefit because you can see the picture before it is saved to the smartmedia card saving you the trouble of going through them later to delete the ones you didn't like ot to free up space on the card. You know you liked all the shots you saved. I am using nimh batteries and have had the same ones in the camera for the 2 weeks I have had the camera. The alkalines died the same day I got it. The LCD screen is hard plastic which is great because you can wipe it with a cloth. I got a coupon in the box for either a smartmedia flashpath adapter which is just like using a floppy disk to retrieve your pictures or a USB smartmedia card reader. I chose the USB reader because I already have the other and it is very slow. I have not used the serial cable or software that came with the camera as I have no reason to. I have hooked it up to my TV to see the pictures and the kids love that. I also have used it while hooked up to my VCR and recorded the kids dancing (no sound). I own the Olympus D620L and I enjoy using this camera more than that one which cost me $899.00 compared to $199.00 for this one. This one has more features and I think takes just as good pics, even better pics indoors as the D620L pics tend to always be dark. The size of this camera is also a big plus. I carry it in a small case in my purse so I am never without it, which was the main reason for buying a second, much, much smaller digital camera. I'm sorry about the length of this review but I just cannot say enough about this camera. I love it. I just sent some picture files off to Ofoto.com for processing as 4X6 prints. We'll see just how good it is when I get them.

Strengths:
Small size, many manual options, photo preview, wipable lcd display, etc.

Weaknesses:
Telephoto instead of zoom.

Similar Products Used:
Kodak DC265, Olympus D220L, Olympus D450Z, Olympus D620L, Sony Mavica FD7, Polaroid PDC 700 plus others.

Customer Service:
I called about an expired coupon in the box and they had no problem in letting me send for the free USB card reader anyway.
