Summary:

Initially very impressed with the unit. Very compact, ergonomic and durable design. Very easy to use and produces good results at 1024 X 1280 Res. and low file compression. However I don't find the autofocus that great. Good at close up and Macro work but inconsistent on mid / distance shots. Also have experienced comms. errors now and again on download. I also think the software is a bit mickey mouse.

Strengths:

Compact, Ergonomic design, Easy to use

Weaknesses:

Auotfocus system weak

Review 2 of 90

Summary:

I purchased this camera 12 months ago for use in business. My wife is a kilim rug importer and I wanted to make customer hard copy catalogues and also images for web transfer. Also I wanted a general use camera for fun use...daylight and nite shots in restaurants, parties etc.

Strengths:

Compactness, ease of transfer of images to PC, easy to hold and shoot.

Weaknesses:

Two major weaknesses that make me regret buying the camera. (1)In dark conditions the flash is woefully inadequate and what does come out is very red. Unable to fix with Photoshop or simply don't have the time/inclination to do so. (2) Pictures are just not sharp enough. Especially at distances of under 2m there is a hint of blur that means the snaps are unusable for what I want. (3)The photo software doesn't cut it at all. Compared with what Canon A50 offers for example Ezishuttle is hopeless.

Review 3 of 90

Summary:

This camera is by far the best of the one that I used so far with the exception of the Nikon Coolpix 800. This is one of the smallest digital camera around and take very sharp photos once you figured what are its limitations. Just as with analog SLR camera, there are situations you just can get a good picture without some compensation. Unfortunately most digital camera do not offer accessory lenses for compensation. A person with big hands might have a problem holding and handling the camera since it's so small. Indoor flash photo can be a problem since just about all of my pictures seem under exposed. If you press the shutter button down half way and then turn camera to a darker area to set the focus and flash compensation, and then while still holding doen the shutter button, recenter picture and push shutter button down all the way, this will result in better pictures. Each new generation of digital cameras bring about a sharper and more featured camera. This camera is no exception here. Fugifilm has the MX1400 and MX1700 now which offer opitcal zoom and slightly better picture quality as well. But over all I am quite happy with it.

Strengths:

Lightweight, compact, just put and automatic mode and shoot away.

Weaknesses:

Indoor flash has limitations. I feel most pictures are under exposed. Can compensate when using photo editing software for it. Flash has small effective distance range. I encountered problem with the serial downloading; sometime it doesn't download properly during a long down load. I've brought a film reader and what difference this made as far as down load time and the reader never encounter any down load problem.

Customer Service:

No problem encountered so far with camera.

Summary:

The camera does a good job for everyday photos. The slight delay makes timing difficult for action shots. Basically, I've been very pleased with the camera, but have not been very successful in using the zoom feature or in taking pictures when lighting is poor.

Strengths:

easy to operate lightweight controls are simple to understand good design for holding in the hand

Weaknesses:

not as much clarity as some other cameras in the snapshot low light shots are not good little Smart-Media door pops open too easily only a serial cable, not USB

Similar Products Used:

this is my first digital camera I especially like the floppy disk adapter

Customer Service:

have only had to contact them one time, and service was good

Summary:

With this little camera, it is possible to take pictures where it is impossible to use other cameras. It is extremely discrete. You can easily use it even at places where photos are forbidden (museums,...), due to its very silent operation.

Strengths:

The portability is really amazing. It often happened that I forgot I carried it. The battery life is outstanding...

Weaknesses:

No zoom, image quality is now a bit lower than the competition, which was not the case 2 years ago.
