Summary: This camera is by far the best of the one that I used so far with the exception of the Nikon Coolpix 800. This is one of the smallest digital camera around and take very sharp photos once you figured what are its limitations. Just as with analog SLR camera, there are situations you just can get a good picture without some compensation. Unfortunately most digital camera do not offer accessory lenses for compensation. A person with big hands might have a problem holding and handling the camera since it's so small.
Indoor flash photo can be a problem since just about all of my pictures seem under exposed. If you press the shutter button down half way and then turn camera to a darker area to set the focus and flash compensation, and then while still holding doen the shutter button, recenter picture and push shutter button down all the way, this will result in better pictures.
Each new generation of digital cameras bring about a sharper and more featured camera. This camera is no exception here. Fugifilm has the MX1400 and MX1700 now which offer opitcal zoom and slightly better picture quality as well. But over all I am quite happy with it. Strengths: Lightweight, compact, just put and automatic mode and shoot away. Weaknesses: Indoor flash has limitations. I feel most pictures are under exposed. Can compensate when using photo editing software for it. Flash has small effective distance range.
I encountered problem with the serial downloading; sometime it doesn't download properly during a long down load. I've brought a film reader and what difference this made as far as down load time and the reader never encounter any down load problem. Similar Products Used: Sony, Vivitar 2700, Soundview minicam, Nikon coolpic 800. Customer Service: No problem encountered so far with camera.
