Summary:

I use this camera for 2 years and very happy with it. I had to buy a new 32MB Smart Media card because 8MB one included with camera just was not enough.

Strengths:

Small size, strong body, good colors, good resolution, over all is just what not-professional need: Easy controls, good screen etc

Weaknesses:

no optical zoom, slow switching between view and shoot modes, but all of them are minor things that did not really bother me, I just thougt that they can be better.

Similar Products Used:

Olympus DC-300L, Fujifilm MX1700

Customer Service:

Did not have to use it.

Review 2 of 36

Summary:

I've had this camera for a year and a half and it still amazes me with the image quality from such a small pocket size camera.Wish it had more manual control and a better flash but for convenience and quality in such a small package, its hard to beat. Will go for the 4900 next because of more creative control. The zoom is rather weak, but I think every shortcoming that the 2700 has has been corrected with the 4900 zoom. Am just waiting for the price to fall.

Strengths:

size, image quality, convenience,

Weaknesses:

weak flash, little manual control,

Summary:

All in all I like this camera. But I would not recommend it to others. There are better cameras for the equivalent price.

Strengths:

Love the size. Controls are easy to use. I threw away the manual almost immediately.

Weaknesses:

When there is poor lighting I turn of flash - you'd better have a very steady hand or the picture comes out very blurry. You can mess with the controls to improve this but typically I don't have the time when I am point-and-clicking. Also: you have the choice of only two resolutions. Very high or low at 800x600. Not 1024 x 760 which I want.

Review 4 of 36

Summary:

A fine camera for anyone starting out in digital photography. Overall a very good camera. No real flaws to mention, just a couple of things which became irritating after a while: 1. Slow processing of high resolution images; 2. Digital zoom is not what I thought it would be when/before I puchased the camera - Was lead to believe it was something amazing.. It's not. I now own a FujiFilm FinePix MX4700 after selling the MX2700, and miss the ability to easily focus in poor lighting conditions, and the NiMH batteries of the MX4700 are a real nightmare in comparison to the MX2700.

Strengths:

In comparison to other cameras (ie. the MX4700) I find the ability to focus in poor lighting conditions quite good. The Lithium Ion battery is a defenite plus. After using NiMH batteries in a Fuji MX4700 for the last couple of months, I miss the quick-charging, and long-lasting Lithium Ion battery. Quality of photos is more of than not, quite excellent in comparison to photos taken by other digital cameras (Sony, Olympus, Kodak) and price-wise, this camera is defenitely worth the pricetag. If you have the USB SmartMedia reader (not supplied with the camera) transfers are up to 40X the speed through the serial port. This is defenitely something you would want if time is important/you take many photos.

Weaknesses:

1. Processing (displaying/saving) high resolution images takes quite some time. 2. Digital zoom is not all that great (then again, I don't think too much can be expected without the optical zoom) 3. Serial port access to the images is incredibly slow and with high resolution images can seem to take forever. This also requires that the camera be turned on and tends to use a lot of battery power.

FujiFilm FinePix MX4700

Customer Service:

Never required any service for the camera. So - N/A

Summary:

After trying out many different cameras, I think the Fuji-MX2700 is my camera of choice. Strengths: 1. Small size - can fit nicely in your pocket. 2. 2.3 megapixel is enough to print a decent 8.5 X 11 inch picture. 3. Li-ion battery - less weight with longer run time. 4. Simple to use - rotating dial. 5. Viewfinder - Saves battery life. 6. Mini LCD display - Displays basic yet sufficient information so you don't need to turn main LCD display 7. Neat sound - little beeps that my friend always mimic whenever I use the camera. Weakness: 1. No optical Zoom - Limits the distance I can stand to take decent pictures. 2. Weak flash (probably because of lack of optical zoom). This could be an advantage though. If you stand closer to the subject, chances are you will get better pictures since you are within the range of the flash. 4. Manual mode -- can't seem to switch off the main LCD display. (consumes more battery power) 3. Serial Port Upload - An extra $100 CND will get you a USB Smart Media (SM) reader to cure the problem. 4. Size limit in SM card - 64 MB size limit. (as of now) 5. Included 8 MB SM card -- GRR!! Overall, I would recomended this camera to anyone who wants to take good pictures who don't need all the bells and whisles in a camera.

Strengths:

Compact, Li-ion battery, simple to use, Viewfinder, Mini LCD display build in, camera sounds

Weaknesses:

Weak flash, no optical zoom, Smart Media storage.
