Model Reviewed:
Fujichrome Sensia II 400

Summary:

I'd choose this film over the current Elite Chrome 400 which is inferior to older Ektachrome. But I'd prefer something with more generous exposure latitude. In two rolls tested so far Sensia II 400 appears to have only a 1/2 stop latitude.

Perfect for the cool blue twilight and nighttime look without need for filters. But expose carefully and bracket heavily.

Strengths:

-Fine grain for a fast slide film.
-Good resolution.
-Accurate daytime colors.

Weaknesses:

-Surprisingly little exposure latitude, maybe even inferior to Sensia II 100.
-Twilight colors very blue (not necessarily a fault, depending on tastes). Color shifts from neutral to blue in a matter of minutes as sun sets. Rather startling.
-Reciprocity failure makes determining long exposures difficult.

Similar Products Used:

-Fuji Sensia II 100, Astia 100
-Kodachrome 25 & 64, Elite Chrome 100, 200 & 400, previous versions of Ektachrome 400

Model Reviewed:
Fujichrome Sensia II 400

Summary:

OK, it does not have punchy colors as Velvia, and it's not as fine-grained as Kodachrome 64, but the fast speed makes it a great all-purpose travel film.

Strengths:

Fast film with relatively fine grain and color saturation. Acceptable exposure range.

Weaknesses:

None.

Similar Products Used:

Fuji Velvia, Kodachrome 64, Ektachrome 200, etc.
