Summary:

I puchased a PhotoSmart 612 in early July 2002. It was fantastic, for about 8 months! I took it on my family vacation in October/November 2002, to our nation's capitol and took hundreds, maybe thousands of wonderful photos. I had more beautiful photos than my sister (who is a professional photographer)with her 35mm camera. I used the camera through the year, and put it away for about 2 months. When I tried to use it again, it was dead. After at least 4 calls to the service center, it was replaced with a piece of junk! The replacement(also a 612) has not worked properly at all. I've called the service center 3 times, the final result is that my replacement falls under the original warranty time(at least that's what I beleive I was told by the service techs that barely spoke english, they were all located in other countries). The service center could not find a record that the camera had been replaced. I now have a $400 paperweight. I have decided that I will buy KRACO, before HP gets another dime from me.

Summary:

Another poorly built HP product. The lens cap will not stay on.

Strengths:

pics are as good as the other brands i've used

Weaknesses:

sometimes can't make up its mind what to do when the on button is pressed. EATS alkaline batteries. LENS CAP WON'T STAY ON

Summary:

I purchased a factory refurb, and for the price I think it's a great camera. The quality is not bad either, I used it to take a picture of a typewritten page instead of scanning the page and it worked just as well as scanning it.

Strengths:

Extremely intuitive, easy to use, don't even need to read the manual, nice features (optical zoom, red eye reduction), good exposure with or without flash, don't have to go through all kinds of menus to change settings. Nice quality pictures for general purposes. Lens cap included with mine.

Weaknesses:

Can't set exposure settings/focus manually. Should buy some flash cards if you want to use the highest quality setting on a regular basis. You can only fit 7 pictures or so of the top quality on the internal memory. (16 of second setting, over 100 of lowest setting)

Kodak DC 3200 this camera beats the Kodak all to pieces.

Summary:

I have done quite abit of comparing & ended up buying the HP612, HP620 & Canon A40. I had trouble with a cloudy view finder on the 620. The Canon takes good pics but alittle complicated. The buttons are little & the display choices are hard to read for "older" eyes. The 612 takes great pics, big display & so easy to operate I could just pick it up & shoot. The progam that comes with it is also great. Easy to use & for cloudy days you can enhance the pic or adjust the color to come out great.

Strengths:

Larger Display Ease of use Good 8 X 10 pics Uses compact flash card

Weaknesses:

Can't do alot of adjustments Only 8mg internal memory loose shutter cover

Summary:

This product is a great value for the money. This model offers 2.3 MP quality for under 300 bucks! I''ve read several reviews of this camera them stating that the images tend to come out blurry and grainy, well, I''ve tested this camera in different lighting conditions and it fares rather well. First impression of the image quality looking at the 1st picture transferred was, "Wow". I was rather impressed at the color reproduction, and the fact that HP has taken care of the "over expossing" of "flashed shots". Pictures are clear and are able to print (photo quality) prints up to 8 X 10. So, if you''re looking for an affordable, easy as heck point and shoot digicam, this is the one!

Strengths:

Picture quality, CF Slot, USB transfer, Zoom lens.

Weaknesses:

No AC Adaptor included
