Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

My DC-40 has been an awesome basic camera for me. Perfect for just that point and shoot. As you would expect, Kodak discontinued the best camera they put out back then. So now I'm trying to find software that will work with my new updated verison of "Windows-XP" on a Pent-4. Kodak provided "NO" support for Windows-XP running with a Pent4. This camera still takes great pictures but I can only download them onto an older computer I have here that works half the time. :) The support people for Kodak were totally dumb founded in dealing with my question for support. If anyone has any ideas for Windows-XP that will make my DC-40 come to life again. Please e-mail at jof469@ameritech.net

Strengths:

picture clarity GREAT, battery life GREAT.. Still going strong... IF I can get it to work with Windows XP......

Weaknesses:

So far I can not get DC-40 to work with Windows-XP... Plus "NO" support from Kodak at all....

Customer Service:

Support from Kodak was not good!!

Summary:

An awesome basic camera- perfect for point and shoot photography. However Kodak discontinued it about 9 months after I purchased 6 of them for my school and has provided ZERO support for USB or any other connectivity. These cameras take a great picture but I can only download them into older Macs... Kodak's support people were totally rude in dealing with them for support. They told me to go buy newer Kodak cameras!! never again.

Strengths:

ease of use; picture clarity; hold 48 pictures; rugged.

Weaknesses:

No support from Kodak!!

Customer Service:

The worst!!

Summary:

Great all around first camera even though its a little dated now. I would recommend something a little higher pixel for printing pictures. I have been more than happy for what I have paid.

Strengths:

Durability, easy to use, and capacity.

Weaknesses:

No zoom or macros pretty much you get what you paid for.

Summary:

Great Camera, I am looking forward to buy the latest verson from the kodak. If you are a beginner, learn taking photos from this camera before buying an expensive one.

Strengths:

Good grip with the rubber pads And the flash is a good one and the picture is very realistic.

Weaknesses:

It has a trouble of sorting out the color "yellow"

Summary:

I've have my DC-40 for a couple of years now, and in that time I've gone through quite a few possible replacements, but my DC-40 still remains my favorite camera. Sure my DC-120, and Fujifilm MX-700 take far better pictures, and the tripod mount wore out in a month (replace it with a steel helicoil) but for WEB work... the '40' still remaiins my favorite. It's durable, bulky enough that I don't forget that I have it with me (a 'small' problem with the MX-700), takes very good low-res pictures, and the batteries (Energizer Lithium) last forever! I've seen the DC-40 going for well under $200 on the NET... At that price, every computer user out there should buy one. Sure technology has moved on, and the DC-40 is not quite as fashoinable as soome of the newer consumer-level cameras (though I think it still looks very cool... In a MAD MAX kinda way), but for those not sure about investing some huge amount of cash into a digicam, the DC-40 can't be beat! It'll always be my first digicam love.
