Price Paid:  $699.00 from Singapore

Summary:

I have a reasonalbly good experience with the DC240. Pictures are of good quality.

Strengths:

greatest strength being the KODAK brand name.

Weaknesses:

Sometimes the camera shuts down abruptly & doesnot get powered on inspite of the batteries being fully charged. Battery life is extremely short, infact shockingly short. It would have been better if Kodak had also given an AC adapter with the camera. It is very difficult to buy components in Mumbai, India

Customer Service:

Not aware/difficult to find an Authorised Kodak Service Centre in Mumbai

Review 3 of 68

Summary:

The Kodak dc240 is a great camera with exceptional quality however the battery life is shorter than reasonable you are forced to carry lots of spare batteries or risk missing the shot. It is easy to use with dual viewfinders optical when its just to bright out to see the LCD screen and a decent LCD screen.

Strengths:

The DC240 will render high quality pictures that should satisfy anyone. Its dual viewfinders is handy to review and delete mistakes. The optical viewfinder will let you get the shot when there is too much sun to see the LCD screen.

Weaknesses:

The Kodak DC240's battery life is shorter than reasonable. You must carry lots of spare batteries or you run the risk of missing the shot.

Similar Products Used:

none.

Customer Service:

I ahve had no problems with the camera and therefore no calls to Kodak.

Summary:

Our company has three of these cameras. Within the 6-10 months of owning them, two have had to be sent back to the factory for repairs. In both cases the camera was taking blurred pictures.

Strengths:

Easy to use and download.

Weaknesses:

Camera lens, battery usage, LCD, not very reliable quality.

Review 5 of 68

Summary:

This was my first digital camera and I am still in love with it. I run several websites and have generated hundred of product images and some images even ended up in magazine ads (although in a small size). My only reason for giving it up was to get more advanced features which are not found on cameras in this price range, and are really un-necessary if you are not using the camera for a specific purpose like close-up product photographs. One recommendation would be to purchase a larger memory card and a card reader. I used a 16MB card and would get around 35~40 images on it. This was more than enough for a several day vacation.

Strengths:

Good value, for under $500 it has all the features a typical person would use and comes with good features like USB connectivity and rechargable batteries. Photo quality is near perfect on prints up to 5x7, but most people rarely print larger than that anyway. Features are clear and easy to understand. The image size of 1280x960 has plenty of resolution and can be manipulated comfortably on most PC's without taking forever.

Weaknesses:

USB connection does not work under Windows 2000. Zoom in/out button must be pressed hard with fingernail to activate. Low shutter speed. Still or slow moving objects are fine, but moderate movement will blur.

Customer Service:

Contacted their tech support about the zoom control, when I first received the camera I thought it was broken. The response was that all the cameras are like that. Although this was not the best answer it was delivered timely and professionally.
