Review 2 of 78

Price Paid:  $600.00 from egghead

Summary:

After extnsive research, I purchased the DC 290 about 18 months ago. I work as a Project Manager and take a lot of construction photo''s for the owner and the architect. I have taken 4700 pictures. The quality of the image is outstanding! Once you take the time to read the manual and learn how to download to your computer, it is great! Kodak has some new models that will make downloading very easy. The DC 290 is the Cadillac of it''s day and you can find them now for less that $400. Great camera!

Strengths:

Image quality. If you like to take a lot of pictures, this digital camera is the way to go!

Weaknesses:

Not good for taking action shots. This digital takes a couple seconds to "focus" before snapping off - - but the pictures are remarkable.

Similar Products Used:

First digital camera.

Customer Service:

Very good.

Review 3 of 78

Price Paid:  $899.00 from Office Depot

Summary:

Although my experience with this camera was negative and frustrating, I learned quite a lot about digital photography and am using this experience to find a competent digital camera.

Strengths:

Took a few very nice shots. Was able to use software to correct and enhance many shots. Whetted my appitite for digital photography.

Weaknesses:

Locks up very frequently. Freezes up and will not recover even if left alone for hours. This problem is acknowledged at manufacturer''s site but no cure. Others have published complaints on internet. No fixes, no satisfaction. Only way to restart is to remove batteries and reinsert. Then have to reset all preferences such as date, time, etc. Many photos not sharp. Many shots with detail require time consuming use of software for correction. High battery use. Expensive service contract worthless because of appearent manufacturer defect. Poor manufacturer support.

Similar Products Used:

None. My first digital camera.

Customer Service:

I sent a detailed, clearly written statement on the company''s form describing the lockup problem and lack of photo sharpness . When the camera was returned there was no note made of corrective actio
