Review 1 of 9

Price Paid:  $199.00 from Wal-mart

Summary:

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! I purchased the Kodak DC 3800 almost a year and a half ago. Within the first 5 months, a problem developed that made the pictures blurry, but it occurred within the warranty period. Kodak sent me another camera with a "REFURBISHED" sticker on the bottom. Now, less than a year after that problem, another problem has arisen involving formatting. Kodak has said that they'd repair the problem for a charge that nearly equals the purchase price of the camera! I would never recommend this product, and now seriously doubt that I'd ever buy another Kodak product.

Strengths:

When it actully works, it takes decent photographs.

Weaknesses:

UNRELIABLE!

Customer Service:

Has been completely unsatifactory, considering that the camera is now good for little more than paperweight.

Review 2 of 9

Price Paid:  $180.00 from Ubid.com

Summary:

The wrapper tastes better than the actual candy. This camera only LOOKS good. It is a definite "eye-candy" to everyone who's looking for a small camera. This camera, dc3800 however is terrible. The camera takes good pictures with good colors, but it blurs out ridiculously. I have never seen such a camera that blurs out as much as this one. You have to have super steady, robot-like hands in order to take a successful clear shot. I got myself a Canon S200 Digital Elph after a year later and it's much, MUCH better with cleaner images and tons of more features. The Kodak dc3800 is merely just a toy with a high price tag.

Strengths:

Small, sexy, eye-catching design. Picture quality is not bad.

Weaknesses:

everything else other than physical looks and the ok image quality. Too much negatives to list.

Similar Products Used:

Canon S200 Digital Elph/Ixus

Review 3 of 9

Price Paid:  $165.00 from eBay/Kodak Auction

Summary:

Purchased the DC3800 for its 33mm lens (modest wide angle) and macro mode. The newer Kodak LS420 was smaller and more user-friendly, but it has fixed focus. The DC4800 is older but uses compact flash cards and has autofocus. I use fill-flash almost all the time, except when I want existing light shots. The shutter speed goes way down to 1/2 sec., OK for many still-lifes. Daylight photos come out great, especially macro close-ups. Interior pictures are a bit wanting, the flash doesn't pack much punch. The 2.1 megapixel filesize is fine for 8 x 10's, I hardly ever print 'em bigger. Battery life with NiMH rechargeables is better than expected. Not great for action shots, but no digital camera under $1000 is, either. Can't get many name-brand, warranteed 2 MP digicams for under $200

Strengths:

Compact, rugged metal cladding. Fits in pocket. Great macro mode. Factory warranty on an eBay find!

Weaknesses:

Needs a white balance control. Big-fingered people can have trouble extracting the memory card.

Similar Products Used:

Kodak DC290.

Customer Service:

Phone service was great. Camera wouldn't boot up after downloading pictures via memory card reader. Kodak guy told me to reformat the card. All's well. Got the camera viia Kodak eBay auction, worthwhi

Price Paid:  $238.00 from Wal-mart

Summary:

This is my first digital camera.Purchased it one month ago. Shot some 200 pictures, including some at Disney World, where I used it as a back up to my film cameras. It is a simple point and shoot, and on that basis I am very pleased with it.

Strengths:

Tiny size, easy to carry. Gets a fair number of pictures with rechargable batteries.Picture quality is good considering the price.

Weaknesses:

Has to be held very steady for a longer period of time then a film camera,in order to avoid blur.

Similar Products Used:

Various SLR''s and P/S camera

Customer Service:

Not required.
