Review 1 of 18

Price Paid:  $350.00 from Dell

Summary:

The camera provided very good pictures, when it worked. After six months of use the lens got stuck and I was not able to use it. Kodak provided a refurbished camera, which also got the same problem; the lens got stuck. This is very disappointing. I won't buy any Kodak product again.

Strengths:

Images were nice.

Weaknesses:

Unreliable.

Similar Products Used:

None

Customer Service:

Customer service was very poor. They gave me contradictory information about how to get my camera repaired. Later, they could not repair it and gave me a refurbished camera. I did not pay that amount of money to get a used camera.

Review 3 of 18

Price Paid:  $350.00 from Office Depot

Summary:

This camera was good--while it lasted. After a little more than a year, it failed, kind of like the shutter was stuck shut, unless every photo was of a black bear at night. Kodak wanted way too much to fix it, about $150. Apparently this is a common failure mode.

Strengths:

Easy to use, docking solution, metal body.

Weaknesses:

Unreliable

Similar Products Used:

Canon S500.

Customer Service:

Camera was older than a year old, so that was that. I have a six year old Ricoh digital camera that still works fine, and Canon's seem to be very solid. Advise that purchasers of Kodak cameras strongly consider an extended warranty.

Review 4 of 18

Price Paid:  $450.00 from Staples

Summary:

I purchased the LS433 new in December 2002 and used it with no problems until July 2004, when it simply stopped working - started with random gross overexposures - then images simply stopped - as though the shutter was stuck closed. Kodak wanted $150.00 + shipping to repair - opted to purchase another one on ebay for less - which worked great for 2 months - then experienced the identical failure mode.

Strengths:

Great images, easy to use

Weaknesses:

durability, very expensive to repair - common failure mode seems to indicate design issue.

Similar Products Used:

Sony FD 91, FD 75

Customer Service:

Helpful, but very expensive repair option quoted with only 45 day warranty -

Review 5 of 18

Price Paid:  $399.00

Summary:

it failed for the second time in the 19 months I've owned it. It failed @ 7 months with a startup/lens problems - lens gets stuck and won't extend from body, and was repaired under warranty. 12 months later it is doing the same thing. Very disappointing.

Strengths:

long battery life, and fast shot to shot time.

Weaknesses:

focus is a problem
