from Wal-Mart Summary: Cool flash--not good with large dining room. Must be within 8 feet to get good lighting of subject. My 35mm has killer flash-guess I am spoiled.
Camera does fantastic job outside, even in patially cloudy conditions.
Excellent zoom and cropping abilities. Can turn photo of bird 50 feet away into a great close-up. Wife and I take walks in local parks bird watching. This is a great outdoor camera. Takes just a second for the auto focus to lock in and click you have a great photo that you can crop into an even greater close-up view of wildlife. I am an optometrist--lenses are my life. I bought this camera based on the fantastic optical zoom capabilities. The 8 MP foremat allows you to obtain clear, sharp, great color shots outside.
Inside I am disappointed with the flash--but plenty good enough for good birthday photos--just not as good as large flash on my old 35mm Minolta. Strengths: Lots of special features that are easy to use if you sit down with the manual and practice. Fantastic outdoors--clarity, color, focus--Wow. Have 1 gig chip that allows you to take hundreds of photos with room to spare in the memory. Couple the camera, the memory card, rechargeble battery system--bought all of these items at Wal-Mart for around $260--and this camera blows away a couple of my friends' cameras Sony and Canon. Zoom is better. Price was better and higher MP. I shopped for quite a while and glad I bought this camera. Weaknesses: Limited flash in large room.--I suppose this is common complaint of small digital cameras with built in flash--No other weakness I can see. Similar Products Used: First experience with digital cameras. Customer Service: Have not needed help--Original salesperson at Wal-Mart had more product knowledge than sales people at Best Buy or Circuit City.
