Strength:

Camera has superior picture quality and amazing zoom, it's easy to keep it in batteries as it takes AA's, which are easy to find. I don't recommend the re-chargable batts. that come with the camera as the don't always keep a charge.

Weakness:

Some reviewers thought the camera was a little bulky, but I just think of it as an SLR which is about the same size. There were bad reviews on the control wheel and the on/off switch, but I've had no problem with either, so, in short, I've found no fault with the camera yet. One person thought the camera took very bad pictures, but I suspect they either got a "dud" or left the lens cap on, this camera takes Great pictures!

I've had this camera for about 2 1/2 months and have had just a few opportunities to use it. This was an upgrade (slight) from the Kodak Z1485 I've had for nearly 2 years and that camera helped me get "weather pictures of the day" on NBC about 21 times the last couple of years. The Z981 has proven to be at least a little bit superior to the previous model in picture quality and has a FAR superior zoom capability. I read a lot of reviews on this camera and was about to invest a small fortune in a major brand DSLR and found some bad reviews on that and was happy to see most reviews on this were positive. I have since read a review by someone who, like me, liked what he heard about the Z981 and researched other cameras only to discover that a DSLR with the capability of this would cost $3,500.00, he paid $300 for his Kodak! The Schneider-Kreuznach-Variogon lens was one that reviewer had on a previous (2005) Kodak camera and felt was superior to any moderately priced camera lens. I recently returned from a short 3 day vacation at Big Bear Lake, Calif. and did a shoot-out between my Kodak Z1485 & my Z981, the Z981 won by a modest margin tho the 1485 has 14.2 megapixels and the 981 has 14 megapixels. I will really be putting both cameras to the test soon as I plan on visiting the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley in the near future and I may wear these cameras out.

Haven't had to use it yet, thank goodness!

Have used a Kodak Z1485 for nearly 2 years and thought it was more than adequate for casual outdoor photography, but wanted to upgrade to a more powerful zoom capability.

Strength:

Gorgeous pictures... but honestly when doesn't the Kodak Easy Shares not have good pics. VERY VERY VERY light weight. LOVE the dual buttons one on top one on the side to take pics. Easy to use, easy to navigate and just as good quality as I've come to expect from Kodak Easy Share Cameras!

Weakness:

The Battery charger takes FOREVER!!! Best to buy a separate charger. I have one from Powerex that takes at most 3 hours and even comes with a car charger!
I was expecting more shocking quality pictures. Could be I'm just too used to the wonderful quality Kodak produces. I've only played with it one day... I'll have to play with it more to really know.
I don't like the fact the lens cap has to be taken off manually for the lens to come out... doesn't pop off. But hey that's a small price to pay! ;-)

I love the camera. I'm shocked at how light weight it is. Almost feels like a piece of plastic! Very pretty lens.
