Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $0.00 from B&H

Summary:

Only posting because of the 5/5 and was really surprised. Ordered one for my daughter for Christmas when first came out. Put in battery, film cycled, battery dead after one flash. Returned and received another which lasted only as long as it took to load the film. Ridiculous, maybe they've solved this problem, but trust me, not cheap enough just to go buy another - spend $120 - cause you'll have to buy two of these, and get a good camera to start with.

Strengths:

Batteries never lasted long enough to find out.

Weaknesses:

Some sort of manufacturing defect.

Similar Products Used:

Olympus Stylus Epic Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom Canon A2 Nikon N80 Minolta X700 Yashica T4

Customer Service:

Watch out. Called B&H, told them specifically did not have packaging, received ok to return, and after return they harassed me mercilessly for not returning packaging, then tried to insist a week after I received the replacement, I return packaging from the replacement they sent out, which I would have, but for the terrible way I was treated, and the fact it had already been returned with the replacement. Strange. A good issue to watch out for when dealing with mail order - apparently sometimes people giving you permission to do something are not familiar with their own policies.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $20.00 from ebay

Summary:

Suprise! This is a great camera. Viewfinder is bright, controls are easy and it uses an easyload system, that makes loading film almost as easy as APS. This is not as small as many P&S cameras, but it will still fit in your pocket, the lens retracts when turned off, or when it turns itself off after a couple of minutes of non-use. Seems to be made of a metal material, even though it may be coated plastic, it is sturdy and there are rubber panels where you hold the camera, making it comfortable. The camera has a 29mm f5.6 lens that is great for snap shots inside. There is even a portrait mode that works surpisingly well with flash. The camera has an infinity mode that allows you to take photos through a glass window. This is a great family get together or party camera. You will not feel like you are too close to the subject, as you sometimes do with a standard 35mm or higher focal length. I've run many rolls of consumer film, from all manufacturers through mine, and have been disappointed with nothing. For the $ this little thing is a steal!

Strengths:

Not many occasions I have notice red eye--there is no preflash with this camera--it may be because the flash is relatively far to the side of the lens. Autofocus is fast and accurate. Lens is great for the price. Genuine glass as they say :). It is easy to shoot from the hip with this camera, because of the wide lens. You don't need to be Ansel Adams to use this thing--just shoot away!

Weaknesses:

No, it is not a Leica, but what do you expect for $20 to $30? No zoom, so you may have to move around a bit.

Similar Products Used:

Lots of different SLRs & P&S cameras, both 35mm and APS.

Customer Service:

Buy another one if something goes wrong.
