Price Paid:  $50.00 from pricescan.com

Summary:

Strengths:

very clear video and is quick too, Much better then intel,IBM,logitech to name a few I have sent back the day I get them

Weaknesses:

none yet. Save your money and buy this instead of other web cams

Review 3 of 4

Summary:

I have had a Kodak still digital camera for almost 2 years now that I have been very happy with so when faced with many choices for a web cam I decided to go for the DVC 325 which fell into the middle of the price range of cameras at circuit city. I have not been dissappointed. This webcam has the usual excellent Kodak picture quality and gives the impression of being rugged in design. I had very little trouble hooking it up and using it. The software seems good and as is usual with Kodak, the manuals are very complete. It has a focus control and a place to set it on a tripod which seem like nice features. The shape seems to work well sitting on the computer or on the desktop. It has USB hookup via a decent-length cable.

Strengths:

Excellent Kodak quality in picture and construction. Pretty easy to use.

Weaknesses:

None so far

Similar Products Used:

Customer Service:

I have never had to use Kodak customer support since I never have problems with their stuff

Review 4 of 4

Summary:

I've had pretty good luck with Kodak products over the past few years, so I thought trying the DVC 325 might be a wise choice for my first experience with webcams. So far that luck still holds. I can't see what more the 3com webcam offers after using the Kodak, and when considering its price ($65 from Buy.com) why pay twice as much?

Strengths:

Installation is a snap, & its USB connection works flawlessly. I believe some of the negative reviews for many webcams are due to installs fouled up by its users, and don't forget the problems associated with motherboards who employ VIA chipsets. Those probably account for more failed USB device installs and poor performance than anything else combined. Its detachable mount is very handy, and a mount is included for use with a laptop. Its built-in tripod mount should come in handy too. No problems encountered in use with NetMeeting and CuSeeMe. Picture quality is very good, especially that rich color Kodak is noted for. Performance in low light has been good too. You can always lighten up darker settings by adjusting the software controls. Focus is easily set, and most other controls are simple to control from software in Windows. If you feel so inclined, this webcam can also be used as a still camera, albeit a limited one due to its rather long USB cable. Still, it can produce acceptable photos in a pinch at 640x480. You can get VERY closeup if necessary. I've made some quick samples which you can check at Photopoint if you follow the URL below, and for best results, view photos at full-size if possible. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=508804&a=12006818 (After uploading these to Photopoint some degradation is very noticeable, most likely due to compression I suspect, so if you feel they have a poor appearance, don't blame it entirely on the DVC 325) The Kodak comes nicely boxed, includes a neat quick setup guide, and a full glossy manual too. Sure beats those lousy manuals that most manufactures put on CD. Enough software is included to keep most people busy for quite awhile. I have yet to find any drawbacks to the DVC 325, and until something much better comes along, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a webcam.

Weaknesses:

None noted yet.

Customer Service:

Not used, much information at web site though.
