This "large" ballhead is really quite small, light weight and compact. It is flawlessly made and the side knob easily locks the surprisingly small ball with only 1/4 turn. I was amazed to find just how securely this small ballhead holds a heavy rig. Just last evening, I used it on a Leica mini tripod to support my Nikon F5, a 28-70/2.8 lens, and SB80 flash with Stroboframe flash bracket. I shot a group shot using the self timer while I popped into the photo leaving the rig to stand alone on the tripod and head. Amazingly sharp results from an amazingly stable ballhead. Strengths:
Typical Leica build (extraordinary).
Surprisingly strong grip on ball and overall stability. Weaknesses:
