Shoots a nice picture when you can make it work

Cannot use viewfinder with extra lenses attached.

Review 2 of 156

Price Paid:  $700.00 from online

Summary:

This review may be skimpy but I'll hit some obious strengths/weaknesses. I havn't used the camera enough get to address the knitty-gritty. My rating mostly reflects the quality of the photos it takes.

Strengths:

Takes great photos with minimal effort, even indoors in less light (I havn't even played with the light settings yet.)

Weaknesses:

Grossly insufficient printed manual. The CD-Rom manual is more full but slow and fussy--and you need to boot up a computer to use it, as if you want to juggle a laptop while using your camera! I suppose I'll have to desktop print my own manual from the CD--what a hassle. Amazing that the technical people could design this camera but not print a comprehensive manual. Two tiny plastic tabs that keep the battery door closed broke off despite careful handling, causing intermittent power shut off. This cost $100 to repair. In short, a $700 camera with a 2 cent battery door.

Review 4 of 156

Price Paid:  $400.00 from Henrys

Summary:

Since it is Can$599.00 (US$400) selling at Henrys. I won''''t mind to try. Good full metal casing. I like the Compactflash and AA battery format. But super slow zooming and AF make me hate to use it. No USB (!). And no manu control. Any way, is good price to buy.

Strengths:

Metal casing. AA battery format. Compactflash. Cheap!

Weaknesses:

Eat battery (but I have a lot to feed it). Supre slow AF and zooming. No USB!

Similar Products Used:

Canon Pro90 IS. Canon A20.

Customer Service:

Not try yet.

Review 5 of 156

Price Paid:  $800.00 from Cameraworld

Summary:

My first digital camera after 25 years of Nikon slrs. Nice piece of hardware that is sweet in the hands. Makes nice images but with the usual limitation of memory, lcd viewing in daylight, shutter lag, batteryhog. Uncharacteristically poorly integrated into the Nikon system.t

Strengths:

Solid, precise. Nice results from auto features.s

Weaknesses:

Very limited manual mode, limited product info, limited sense of system/accessory integration.ã

Similar Products Used:

DXo

Customer Service:

Pretty nice, as usual, and surprisingly frank about the superficiality of the usually cogent collateral information.
