Price Paid:  $312.00 from Pricegrabber.com

Summary:
This would be a great little 4MP camera but with one major design flaw! This flaw should be enough to discourage anyone from buying it. See below (Weaknesses)

Strengths:
Good 8X optical zoom lens, many features for creative picture-taking as well as regular shooting.

Weaknesses:
Camera has an opening/closing diaphram to protect the lens where even the slightest particle of dust or lint will cause it to only partially open which then puts a large black area at the top and bottom of the pictures. There is no lens cap made for this camera to keep out the lint and dust. A terrible design flaw by Nikon!

Similar Products Used:
Canon Powershots all have lens caps and most lens caps have a cord to attach to the camera so they don't get lost!

Customer Service:
Nikon Customer Service tries to defend the design of the Nikon Coolpix 4800 saying the diaphragm will work OK and that lens caps only get lost. Bogus arguments to say the least.
