Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

I purchased the camera in December 2001, started to use it in January 2002. This was my first camcorder, so I probably under-utilized some of the camera features. I was satisifed with the performance of the camera, although after a few months the shutter would not completely open on occasion. I either reset the camera or opened the shutter completely by hand. Then in July 2003, after about 20 hours of filming, the camera stopped working. I changed the battery to no avail. The light works, the viewfinder/VCR functions appear normal, but the tape will not advance. I can not eject it. I contacted Panasonic, they told me that since it was over a year the warranty would not cover the product. Perhaps with the sales reciept they could take a look at it for $161.00, but when I explained I was in the middle of a four month trip they couldn't help me. I purchased the product in California and plan to sue under their implied warranty. I doubt I will purchase another Panasonic product based on this experience. My on-line research suggets this model has been discontinued, so perhaps others have had similar problems with a defective product.
