$0.00 Summary: I tried Provia and Velvia, both slides gave very good image colour and sharpness, this lens should be one of the best among Pentax 645 lenses. I not only use it to take marco objects, but also far away scenery shots, it still produce very sharp images.
Even I always use it at "limit" focus mode, but it gives min. focus dist. at 0.7m which can still produce 1:4 magnification which is actually suitable for most photo conditions even I don't use "full" focus mode sometimes.
It cost over HK$7000 in grey market, charging higher than other FA mid tele lenses or A 120mm F4 lenses. However, its lenses design and structure is totally different from old A 120mm F4 marco, so it may makes it charge more.
The AF speed is acceptable, fast enough to take portrait photos especially at "limit"focus mode. Strengths: Very good colour saturation, flare control, distortion control and sharpness. 1:1 magnification is not common in medium format marco lens, most of them usually provide 1:2 only, but this lens provide 1:1.
The lens building is very good, I feel it very durable, but a bit heavy. Weaknesses: Unlike other FA lenses, it weighs over 700g, relatively not light in weight. Anyway, it is only a minor factor.
If the min. aperature can be F45, it would be better coz is quite important for medium format marco shoots.
Price rate is a bit higher than expected for Pentax 645 lenses. Similar Products Used: A 120mm F4 marco Customer Service: Nil
