Summary:
This has been an almost perfect travel camera for me. I keep it in a small bag around my shoulder when on a trip and it's so small and light that I don't notice it. I can whip it out in a flash and snap a shot so quickly and easily. It is simple to use but intelligent; my pictures are almost always perfectly explosed and sharp--and I generally use slide film. The 28 mm lens is particularly valuable. I couldn't live with most p&s's that are only 35-38 mm.

Strengths:
Small, light, easy to handle and use, excellent results, great wide angle, strong flash, battery lasts for about 15 rolls of 36.

Weaknesses:
Not very good in low light conditions--at least with tele. Auto fill flash often shoots in bright light conditions--annoying. I dropped it in a creek but grabbed it as it hit the water, so it barely got wet, but ruined the roll and the viewfinder fogged up, although it clered in 24 hours. Wish it were more weather-resistant! The lens is very good but not good enough for art-quality landscapes.

I have used a Nikon EM slr since 1980. Along with two Olympus non-zoom pos's--both very fine.

Customer Service:
I have an extended warranty--highly recommended--and sent it in to Pentax because of a light leak caused by a bad hinge--after three years of use. They did a complete overhaul on it and got it back to me in about two weeks. I couldn't be happier with the service!

Summary:
I own and USE an unusually large assortment of P&S cameras. I've had the original 928 model (non-M) for probably 4 years. My wife took it to Europe last year and ran 24 rolls of 400 film through it and came home with many beautiful images. I want to go to Europe :-). The only pictures that did not come out were some indoor shots where flash was not allowed. These few images were blurry due to camera shake. I think the lens is very good to excellent... Flash is fine...does not produce washed out pictures at normal distances...exposes fine if subject is within 6-12 feet depending on zoom position (affects f stop). My wife and I have complete confidence in this camera knowing that it'll produce great prints. My wife chooses this camera because is simple to use, light, and provides great pictures. I want all of that and the flexibilty to do some serious photography. This camera does it for both of us.

Strengths:
28mm wide end (our dining room is small so a 28mm lens is necessary to get everyone in the shots of special occasions...eg Birthdays; holiday dinners etc). 28mm was perfect for European environment. Excellent exposure accuracy. Very good to excellent lens. The large buttons and sensible layout makes it very easy to use. It offers lots of flexibility for serious photography including exposure compensation, flash options, self timer, infinity focus. Overall, it's an excellent P&S.

Weaknesses:
Its already 4 years old...we hope it has many years left!

Summary:
Exellent camera (of course, among point-and-shoots). Very good zoom range, lens is very good optically. Could be more slim. Auto flash is annoying. Five stars for overall rating, SIX stars for value rating.

Strengths:
Optical quality, zoom range, passive autofocus with beam light which casts a grid (the same way as in Pentax flashes), accurate 6-zone exposure meter

Weaknesses:
When switched on, the default mode is activated (with auto flash and 3-zone autofocus). No possibility to define one's own default mode. Flash is activated too often, when a backlight is detected. I have to remember to switch autoflash off every time I switch the camera on.

Similar Products Used:
Old point-and-shoots such as Mamiya (excellent), Fuji DL-something, Samsung 35-70 mm (good electronics, awful lens). Among non-similar products: a lot of SLR's.

Customer Service:
Never needed. They say that Pentax service in Poland (in Gdynia) is very good.

Summary:
A very good travel point and shoot camera. I like its zoom range from 28mm to 90mm, which enable me to take good landscape and also portrait pic. Sharpness and Color contract are good for its lens. Exposure compensation is good for me to handle difficult lighting condition.

Strengths:
Zoom range with wide angle for landscape. Exposure compensation. Small size.

Weaknesses:
As for p/s camera, nil.

Summary:
Ok photo quality but the camera is not durable. I will not buy it again.

Strengths:
Good picture quality when it works normally

Weaknesses:
The shutter motor died after merely 4 years of light usage (I only used it a few times a year). I took great care of it, never drop or hit or break it. For its price, I expected it to last much longer.
