Summary:

This camera is bulky, ugly, and the dc in slot broke on me in the first week. My main problem is that they gave me photospace with this thing but no other software and when i try to download my pictures to my computer("quickly") it brings up a box saying that it can't find the camera, is it plugged in?, is it connected? I have tried everything from turning down the baud rate to checking the wires, if anyone can help me you are welcome to e-mail me at eltro@1st.net

Summary:

I bought this camera because of the price I was offered and the specifications. But, alas, like most things out of South Korea, this one is cheap but totally crappy. The controls are difficult to use and unresponsive and the actual unit looks UGLY! I can't comment more on picture quality because it's my first digital cam; but I think it's low. I think I'll try to return it and get a Nikon. You are welcome to e-mail me your recommendation for a digital cam. Thanks! --Brett K., power.mac@sexcrazed.com

Review 5 of 5

Summary:

This Samsung digital camera is definitely a good buy, especially for starters in digital photography. It gives the user enough options to control the image output. If you are not ready to spend money on the top-of-the-line digital cameras, this camera is a good one to play with. When you go up to a resolution of 1280x1024, you also need to spend more on the memory card to hold more photos.Focusing mode allows Auto Focus or Manual Focus. Manual Focus is especially useful for taking close-up shots. There is a One-Shot or Four-Shot(taking 4 frames at once automatically) mode available for picture-taking plus a 3x zoom lens. There is control for White Balance and Apertures. Auto Flash is a plus and you may also force flash On/Off.The camera also includes a 4MB Compact Flash memory card which stores 50 images in Fine mode and 30 images in Normal mode. See specs for resolutions.AA Rechargeable Batteries & Charger, cables for video and serial port are all included in the package. The transfer rate between the camera & computer is 115200bps(if allowed by your computer) through the serial port and doesn't take very long. Software (PhotoSpace) support is also good. One correction on the specification listed for this Samsung camera on this Digital Camera website: There IS a "Self-Timer"(10 sec.) function on the camera. With all the drawback people have complained about some of the digital cameras from Nikon(Coolpix), Sony(DSC-F1), Minolta DiImage, and Kodak(many refurbished), the Samsung SSC-410N is a good compromise among the "namebrands".Feel free to check out some sample photos taken with this camera at my website (sizes reduced for web publishing).Have fun with digital photography!
