    Review 1 of 36

    Price Paid:  $200.00 from online

    Summary:
I bought this camera used as it was already an older model at the time. I have used it a lot for my outdoor and nature shots and photos of flowers. I tried all kinds of shots with this to see what it could and could not do. It is fast and easy to use. The size is barely small enough to be a pocket/travel type camera, but I do like that it is a bit bigger and built tougher.

    Strengths:
    Fast focus
Easy to use modes and features
Has some minor image stabilization in it.
    Good with most shots.

    Weaknesses:
Poor at real bright sun and colors in the sun.
    Poor at night shots
Not real good at macros or manually focusing for closeups.
    Movie mode is so so.

    Review 2 of 36

Price Paid:  $700.00 from Best Buy

    Summary:
I like the camera but it has problems with the flash not working. I hate to thing I have paid $120.00 a year to use a camera. I can buy me a new one or pay for a repair on an old product that has given me problems in the past.

    Weaknesses:
I have had the flash repaired 2 times and it has now gone out again. This does seam to me to be a defect in the product. The size of the camera is large compared to today's cameras.

    Customer Service:
Sony will repair it for a flat fee of $169.00 plus shipping. They will not say it is a problem with the product.

    Review 3 of 36

Price Paid:  $499.00 from best buy

    Summary:
This camera is very easy to use. Has an excellent feel to it and easy to view from the view finder for those of you that want a traditional feel. The battery last a long about 243 pics at the highest resolution. I recommend the camera,

    Strengths:
Battery life. View finder. The hold and feel of the camera. On high resolution you can make a 23 minute video. Come w/ attachment to view on tv set

    Weaknesses:
Memory( Sony should have come up with a way to use a memory stick of at least 256Meg, no carry case

    Review 4 of 36

Price Paid:  $499.00 from Best Buy

    Summary:
This camera does everything one could reasonably expect it to do for a sub-$500 price: 1. The controls are not just easy-to-use--they're intuitive. 2. It takes great pictures without a lot of futzing around. 3. It takes spectacular pictures if you futz for a few seconds. 4. The LCD is large for a camera of its size and is crystal clear. 5. It has full manual controls (if you so desire) so you can be picky or creative. Perhaps the most enjoyable aspect of this camera is its ability to help you learn how to take great photographs. If you have an eye for detail and an artistic inclination, the camera will allow you to experiment with focus, depth of field, exposure, and a few effects...and then give you instant results. There's nothing quite like shooting the same subject 15 times with different aperatures and exposures and then scrolling through them to see how your tweaking makes them all different. When I bought this camera, I was a casual "picture-taker." Not to brag, but I now consider myself a novice "photographer." If you're looking to make the same leap, I highly recommend the Sony. And as for the extras: 1. Put the 8MB Memory Stick in your PDA. Then get a 128. It'll hold around 80 pics on fine quality max resolution. I've rarely had trouble with running out of room. 2. Buy another battery. Yeah, they're expensive, but the investment's worth it. With two, you have about 4 hours of continuous operation. 3. Get a mini-tripod. I highly recommend the "Ultrapod," available at campmor.com. It can sit atop a table or be strapped to a tree or post. 4. Don't mess with filters and lenses. This is not a 35mm SLR. This is a digicam. Use photo editing software to your advantage.

    Strengths:
Picture quality Intuitive controls Manual control option USEFUL picture effects Feels solid in your hand Glorious LCD Connectivity (downloads to PC in seconds)

    Weaknesses:
Slow startup & shutdown Not the greatest in low light

    Similar Products Used:
I played around with almost every other digicam in the same price range...then bought this one.

    Customer Service:
Haven't had to use. Nothing has gone the least bit wrong.

    Review 5 of 36

    Price Paid:  $350.00 from Buy.com

    Summary:
This a great little camera. It's easy to use and contains features that are found on analog SLR units such as Aperture and shutter speed priority mode and adjustable exposure values. It can also accept external lens filters, but you need to purchase the adaptor from Sony. Outdoor pictures may be a bit oversaturated in bright sunlight.

    Strengths:
Carl Zeis lens Battery Life versatility, accepts external filters!

    Weaknesses:
included memory stick is too small, need at least a 64meg stick

    Similar Products Used:
None -- this is my first camera
