Summary:

First i wanted to buy a JVC-dx9 , but than i heard that it can't take Night Shots so i considered to buy a Sony... :)
The Size is a little to big to put it into your Pocket to take it with u on trips...

But the Battery Life is very Good...

=> If u have "fast" Life Style go and buy a JVC which is much easier to carry with you (JVC-DX9 or JVC-DVPU1)
Sony is a family Camcorder...

Strengths:

1152x864 StillShots , High Battery Life :)
near DVD quality , Infrared (0 Lux)Shot (Great!)

Weaknesses:

Bigger than the JVC
and u need very bright light to take good Still-Shots (that means u have to buy an extra Flash for it) U have to use both Hands to acces to the menu..
Only 4 MB memory Stick! :( and it would be much greater if u could save MPEG's on the memory stick

Review 2 of 14

Summary:

Excellent compact unit that is easy to use. Excellent quality of outdoor pictures recorded on memory stick.Video recording is as good as DVD quality provided adequate lighting is present. The only problem is the still picture quality taken indoor which has been mentioned by others. Otherall, i strongly recommend it. Do get an accesory flash and a memory stick of larger size( only 4 Mb comes with the machine) at a bargain if you can when you purchase the unit.

Strengths:

Compact, small, excellent outdoor pictures

Weaknesses:

Poor picture quality indoor without flash

Review 3 of 14

Summary:

I love this camera!! This is the first digital camcorder I own - actually the first camcorder I own. So I don't have much to compare it with. But from what I see I like it. Still photosgraphs taken inside the house are not that great because of lighting problems. The HVL-FDH3 flahs alleviates some of the problems. But still its not up the mark. Also I would have liked to have support for USB since I have a PC. I believe that has been added in the PC110.

A little pricey but a great camera in a very compact form.

Strengths:

Small size, great outdoor pictures and video

Weaknesses:

No support for USB, not so great indoor pictures

Review 4 of 14

Summary:

I have used this camera for over 15 months with excellent results. Great on an 80" TV. A second MP-FM50 battery is needed, I found the NP-FM90 too big for whole day use. Firewire interface has worked fine with Sony Computers. Program Auto Exposure on "Beach&Ski" setting works great on snow but you must be very careful not to touch backlight button when shooting.

Strengths:

Resolution Auto Exposure Nightshot 10x Zoom Lens

Weaknesses:

Audio signal to noise ratio Backlight button location

Similar Products Used:

Canon ZR

Customer Service:

None

Review 5 of 14

Summary:

Very portable unit with excellent video quality for miniDV, as long as there is adequate light. Good digital photos, but not as good as dedicated digital still camera (> or =2 megapixel); quality is fine for web or computer monitor viewing, but would say it's maximum limit on inkjet color prints would be about 4 X 5 inches. Although most of the digital effects are superfluous, I do get a kick out of the ability to do blue screen type special effects where you can superimpose either video or still shots over a blue background. There's a nice comprehensive review at Megapixel.net. You'll have to browse the review section of the site to get to the review.

Strengths:

Very compact. Excellent video quality in good lighting conditions. Works well with iMovie for the Mac. Analog in/out so you can transfer your old videos to DV. External microphone input which permits better audio than with built-in microphone. Very good image stabilization (video mode only) Solidly built (although I haven't performed a drop test yet ;) Very good battery life. Has ability to record and playback in 16:9 mode on compatible TV sets (unfortunately cannot vouch for this even though I have a Sony 61HS10 digital RPTV) S-Video as well as analog and iLink (aka Firewire and IEEE 1394) video output.

Weaknesses:

Poor microphone placement. Motor noise is picked up recorded voices seem diluted. No Mac support for serial memory stick transfer (but is probably too slow for anything bigger than the included 4 megabyte stick. Very touchy zoom control. Limited wide angle (wide angle equivalent to about 40 mm in a regular 35 mm camera) Not very good low light performance (7 lux) but does have built in IR for eerie night vision style shots.

Similar Products Used:

Sharp miniDV, JVC
