Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $1400.00 from Circuit City

Summary:

Glad that I chose this unit 3 years ago. Still to this day I have not had a single problem with it. I'm also stoked that I don't have to pay $15 for a DV tape any more ;) This camera is really durable. I have dropped it in concerts from time to time. The only thing is miss is the remote (i lost it). If you can get one get it, you won’t be disappointed.

Strengths:

Great image, durable, and nice compact size.

Weaknesses:

not a thing

Review 2 of 5

Summary:

I have to say I am truely impressed by the quality of this camcorder. It takes crystal clear recordings AND pictures. The analog input and output make it a great video/tv dubbing unit, and it's nightvision is unbeatable! It is made well and is reasonably priced!

Strengths:

Everything!

Weaknesses:

None

Review 3 of 5

Summary:

The last guy must be throwing it around while he is using it. This camera does NOT fall apart. It CAN shoot in low light, and if you feel the need to use digital effects...well, that's your problem. It is very easy to use. The image is great. I used this to shoot B-camera for a TV pilot, a FOX Special and a new pilot I am producing. Since these cameras are hard to find new these days, if you can get a hold of one for $500, you got a great deal (that's what I paid at an Internet company fire sale). If you are looking to spend $1500 (which is what this was listed at), then get a newer DV camera. Most of them are all do the same thing. If you really have the cash, up the stakes and get a 3ccd camera. BUT, if you are looking to spend low on the bucks, if you can get a good one of these, then go for it. pJ

Strengths:

Easy to use.

Weaknesses:

1 CCD

Canon XL1 Sony DV1000

Review 5 of 5

Summary:

Excellent picture with sharp contrst. Light-weighted so that it is easy to handle. the lux rating is 5, relatively high compared with most JVC DV camcorders, which run from 1-3. But the low light shooting is still great without obvious effects. The color is a bit yellowish but no big deal. No color bleed or anything. The battery life is long enough to get me bored and tired, with 3.5' LCD open, FM70 can last 4.5 to 5 hours. I am very satisfied with this camcorder.

Strengths:

Long battery life; sharp picture

Weaknesses:

None

Similar Products Used:

JVC. Panasonic

Customer Service:

Sony's customer service toll free phone is hard to dial, always keeping me wait for 20 min.
