Review 1 of 14

Price Paid:  $1500.00 from Online

Summary:

This is a neat little machine. I can''t call it a value due to the high price, but the features are great. The video quality is great (as expected). I wasn''t sure how good stills would be but I found them to be very good (note that I only view stills on the PC). The low light capability is very poor so don''t expect to use it once the sun sets. Battery life seems quite good but be sure to get the spare if you want to shoot through out the day.

Strengths:

Small, pretty lightweight, very handy. The photo flash is great. Picture quality very good.

Weaknesses:

Expensive product and expensive accessories. The 4MB disk included is anemic (come on Sony, get a life). Product has a slight humming noise to it (only noticable if it''s quiet). Night shot stinks (green image) and is limited to 10ft. My IR light was misaligned slightly and seemed patchy.

Review 2 of 14

Price Paid:  $1100.00 from local store

Summary:

This camera is easy to use, has great effects and takes good quality stills. As with all small camcorders some people may find it difficult to hold especially if you have fat fingers. But that''s what tripods and diets are around for. This camcorder is basically the dogs nuts.

Strengths:

Size, easy of use.

Weaknesses:

price

Review 3 of 14

Price Paid:  $1200.00 from onecall

Summary:

I chose this camera for the Zeiss lens, all the features, and the fact I do not have to make a payment for year (on good credit). I have a Sony DSC-S85 and the two together make great compact photo gear to take with me on any trip. Plus, they both can use the same battery, memory stick, and AC adapter/charger. I love the 110 for movies. The snap shot feature is handy for the cases where you need a quick photo and the best resolution is not that important. I have the S85 for those special stills. I would like better performance under less than ideal lighting conditions, and the swing down grip needs some getting used to, it''''s almost like an after-thought on the part of Sony. Otherwise, all the features I could possibly use are there. It''''s too bad it''''s not more mac friendly, although I have a PC. I only say that because I know the latest MACs have good video editing capability.

Strengths:

Lots of features, Sony dependability, fairly intuitive controls, sharp Zeiss lens, common media and power sources with other Sony cameras.

Weaknesses:

Insufficient grip for holding, small memory stick, limited sensitivity under low light, not so special softwre package.

Review 4 of 14

Price Paid:  $1199.00 from Etronics.com

Summary:

This camcorder has completely amazed me since i have had it. So easy to use and so compact. The stills shots that I have taken are very clear. I have even compared them to shots taken w/ a 2.1 megapixel still camera and the PC110''s pictures were actually more vivid. This camera has a popup flash that has the redeye reduction feature and you can choose flash intensity of low, normal, and high depending on the shot. It will take a while to learn all the features this little camcorder has to offer and I will enjoy every minute of it. If you have not seen one in person check one out at a local retail store like Wolf Camera or Now Audio Video, you will not believe the size. And about the grip, you can adjust the strap that attaches to the pull down bar so it fits your hand regardless of size. Good time to buy it as the prices are down in the $1200.00 range on the net compared to $1800.00 range plus tax if you go to a retail store. Be careful of the gray market resellers. They will tell you they have it in stock and then ask you if you want the product w/ U.S. warrantee and U.S. instructions you have to pay more. They are rude and all they want to do is sell accessories. If you have any doubts about a reseller check out their rating on pricegrabber.com. I bought mine from etronics.com for $1199.99. They have great prices on the accessories as well. Get an extra battery, Sony NPFM50, is all you really need. Etronics.com has a great rating on pricegrabber.com and resellerratings.com. I got it in 5 days using ground shipping and was provided a tracking # via email. My advice is if you are in the market for a great camcorder/still camera you will not go wrong w/ the DCR PC110.

Strengths:

Size, Features, Still shots are impresive, Auto pop-up flash w/ redeye feature.

Weaknesses:

Price tag, but you get what you pay for.

Review 5 of 14

Summary:

Itis quite compact though not as compact as PC5. Large photo printout look blurry due to resolution less than 3.3 megpixel.

Strengths:

Has 320 x 160 mpeg, 640 x 480 MPEG1 mode recorded to stick.

Weaknesses:

Could have MEPG4, higher resolution. Dim shooeing to grainy without IR.
