from JJ Mehta, India Summary: A Great lens in a field where very few real competitors exist; I do a lot of Interior Photography and really needed a lens that would let me capture at least 2 walls intoto. If your thing is interiors, this is the lens for you.
A bit on the bulky side but then thats a small price for that vast angle of view.
The lens snaps into focus on my Pentax Z1-p and I''ve been able to enlarge stuff up to 12"x15" taken at f5.6 and above without any problems. Careful of that focussing; any slight shift in focus won''t show up in the viewfinder due to the great DOF but will be painfully clear in any enlargements!
Umm.. you''ll have to make sure that the body you mount this lens on is not one of the compact models- I tried using this lens on a tiny Pentax MZ5: not a good combination Strengths: When you need a lens this wide, there is simply no other substitute!
Excellent build quality with an integrated metal hood.
No problems with AF despite the great DOF available- the lens just snaps into focus Weaknesses: One major one: lens flare!
Be very careful of outdoor shots: you will almost certainly see bright blobs of blue opposite any strong source of light.
For indoors shots, similar care should be exercised though here flare control is not so critical.
Oh yeah, that slip on cover is a pain- just an invitation for fingerprints on that huge front element.
And I dont'' believe that Tamron is unable to give us a proper metal cover- I have a Zuiko 24mm Shift lens with a front element every bit as big and Olympus has an excellent metal lens hood- Come on Tamron Similar Products Used: Too many lens to list here- mostly Pentax and Olympus products with some Tamron/Sigma/Tokinas as well Customer Service: Very good service from JJ Mehta, Tamron''s representatives in India
