Strength:

Durable, Reasonabley Subtle, Swallows Everything, Quality

Weakness:

Waist Strap a little high, only just copes with two Nikon bodies and an 80-200 f2.8 and 300 f4.5

A quality item worth the £90 ($130?), Great for walking, holds everything and is comfortable, the Clever Tripod holder and the new sternum strap really help. Great for most forms of photography, it wouldn't cope with a large medium format kit, but for 35mm it's a good buy

Strength:

- Durable
- Larg inside without being too big outside
- Tripod holder/straps hold tripod securely
- Plenty of pockets
- Broad, comfortable shoulder straps
- Distrbutes weight pretty evenly
- Padding around outside of bag protects contents well
- Even with all the room inside, there's still the ability to expand with the slip lock loops on the sides.

Weakness:

- When tripod is attached to the bag, makes access to your gear tougher/slower
- Price
- For tall people, like me (6'3"), the bottom belt ends up around the top of my stomach instead of my waste/hips
- While there's plenty of room overall, inside pockets are a bit tight.
- Lack of a removable film pocket for going through airport x-rays.

Over all, I love those bag. This is the first backpack style bag I've ever bought. I've owned a couple of other bags like the Tamrac System 3 and been happy with those. However, with an incline in my interest to do outdoor photography, I wanted something different. I'm glad I made this choice.

I plan to use this bag even when traveling on planes, and I'm going to miss the fact that I don't have a bag that has a removable film pocket for going through x-ray stations. But I think I can work with that considering all of the other benefits and good things about this bag.

Customer Service

Not had to use yet, and don't expect too, this is a very durable bag.

Strength:

Rugged design, protects equipment, tons of pockets to hold all sorts of gadgets and accessories. Good padding on the straps and back support. Nice tuck-away for the tripod holder when not in use.

Weakness:

I am 6'1" and the waist strap could be a little lower, the tripod holder makes it a little difficult to get into the bag when you have to remove the tripod from the case itself.

This is the bag. If you get one, give this a good amount of consideration. It is at a good price and will not cost you as much as the other monsters that can run upwards of $225 to $300. It has a durable and strong design that is great for hitting the trail and getting into nature. I took this pack with me to Scotland and Ireland in December of 2000 and carried this with me on the trails. We covered nearly 65 miles of trails on assignment and I got ever penny out of this pack. Carrying a Rebel 2000QD, 1x80-300mm lens, 1x28-80mm lens, two flash units, a tripod, 40 rolls of film and a ton of filters accessories, and a complete medium format set up, I had a ton of room, it fits nicely. The front pouch has enough to carry a journal, extra sweater, a GPS system, and your favorite photography magazine. Overall, I love it. Wonderful design and manufacturing. I haven't had a problem with it yet. I use this as my daypack too since I never knwo when I will have to have access to my camera at any time. Buy this! Save yourself form spending a fortune on an equal Tamrac bag, and buy this. You'll love it!

Customer Service

It's a strong design, I hope I never have to call them.

Strength:

Nice model, flexible compartment configuration, big in capacity, small in size, strong ang considerably light

Weakness:

No Tripod Strap in the old model, which I have. Although Lowepro actually put one in the new model

Affordable and long lasting bag. If you're looking for a medium size back pack for your system, look no further.

Customer Service

Top notch!! I used my bag for a month on couple of trips, and suddenly the strap tore, although not broke. I was quite dissapointed with the quality and the strenght of the product.

I e-mailed the customer service, and they replied back with the instruction to bring the bag to the local distributor. The distributor in Singapore quickly replaced it with a new bag with no question asked, and until now (3 years after), despite more trips, my Mini Trekker still looks brand new.

I guess I was just unlucky to get a "bad" product.

Strength:

Small but fits a lot. Fits under airline seat. Very comfortable.

Weakness:

Too much junk hanging off the pack. This stuff is easy to remove, however.

Although I use the larger Nature Trekker for really big trips, I like carrying the Mini Trekker better. It is much lighter, holds a lot of equipment, and I can, on crowded flights, slip it under the seat instead of hunting the plane for bin space.

As with other LowePro bags, there are thousands of do-dads hanging from the pack. I removed all of these to get a smooth easy to use pack. The pack is better balanced than the Nature Trekker with a harness that works much better.

On my last trip to Pennsylvania, I carried an EOS-3, 28-135IS, 75-300-IS, 90/2.8, and Canon G1 digital along with film and accessories. It all fit nicely.

Once again, a very good job by LowePro.

Strength:

Fits all my stuff

Weakness:

A few too many straps

This pack is great. It hold my Elan 7, 28-70 2.8L, 70-200 f4.0L, and a bunch of odds and ends. It's got a lot of straps on it that can get tangled up, but overall, fantastic hiking pack.

Strength:

Light
Holds lots of gear
Tripod carrier simple
Large external pocket with dividers
Good padding
Comfortable harnes

Weakness:

External pocket awkard to use.
Not quit tall enough for my EOS3 w/PB-E2

This is really good backpack. I use it 95% of the time I reach for a bag. It holds a lot of gear, but it's not quit tall enough for the EOS 3 w/booster. There is a bulge where the top of the 3 hits the bag, but no problems so far. I can load the EOS 3, 28-70/2.8 mounted, 70-200/2.8, 180/3.5, 550EX, extra batteries, off shoe cord, extra BM for the booster, filters, etc. The tripod carrier works very well and is simple to use, but it difficult to sit the pack down and get access to gear with a tripod attached. I have taken to using a Kinesis carry strap rather than the bag. The external pocket has some nice divided sections rather than one large pocket. It is a little smaller than the old version of the mini-trekker and it is a little more difficult to get things in and out of the pocket due to the weather shield around the pocket. The old version of the mini-trekker had a larger second pocket. The bag is nice and light. I traded my old mini-Trekker in for a Nature trekker. That was a mistake. The nature trekker was very heavy, with out the gear loaded. Once loaded, the bag was really heavy. After a trip to Yellowstone, I quickly traded it in for the new mini-trekker. Lowepro makes great products; I also have a Compact AW.

Strength:

- Size is just right
- Great tripod carrier
- Solid construction
- Comfortable

Weakness:

- None for me

Awesome backpack. Its versatility allows me to carry all my equipment everywhere, whether it'd be a day at the park or flying ten thousand kilometers to another continent. The tripod carrier is extremely useful and does not upset the balance of the pack. Storage space is plentiful despite small size. So far I've fitted it with my Elan 7e w/ battery grip; Canon 50/1.8; Canon 28-105; a couple of lens hoods; tons of film and filters; and my Fuji MX-2900 digital camera with room to spare. Awesome pack!
