Strength:

Small, easy to work out of and has that Domke feel. I don''t like camera bags that are so bulky and stiff. I think this offers the perfect amount of padding without all that extra that isn''t needed.

Weakness:

Well, they don''t seem to get bigger as you get more equipment but other then that.... Actually, I would like to have my flash in a padded compartment, but everything else seems well protected.

Great bag. I have replaced the large 1 compartment insert with a smaller one compartment insert which allows me to put my Nikon F4s body in that insert, 4 lenses in the 2 compartment insert (24mm f2.8 and 85mm f1.8 w/ hood in one slot, 50mm f1.8 and 60mm f2.8 micro in the other slot) and a Sb-24 flash and SC-17 off camer cord in the extra room left in the main compartment. I use a little bit of foam padding to seperate the lenses so they don''t bang against each other. In one side pocket I carry a Minolta Spot F meter, some filters and extra lens caps. The other is still empty. The front pocket carries all my film and a cable release. The zipper pocket on the flap carries all my instruction manuals and the pocket on the bag carries a couple of garbage sacks incase it gets wet out. I also just got a large Domke pouch which holds my 300mm F4 lens perfectly and it easily velcros onto the shoulder strap if I want to carry that with me as well.

Strength:

Stylish look. Good accessibility of equipment. Quite durable though the color tend to fade easily. the strap evenly disperse the loading making it quite comfortable

Weakness:

doesn''t fit easily a pro size camera body not water resistant not looking good in some people opinion. my gf always said this bag isn''t worth the money. it''s plainly a canvas day bag.

I bought this bag because of its stylish look. Here in Hong Kong nearly every photo journalist use this bag. This bag works fine if you do not need a lot of protection to your equipment. I sometimes even remove all the padding making it a everyday bag or a gym bag. The canvas material is surely not waterproof. You can clearly see the water penetrating. One of the thing i unlike most is that the main compartment is not big enough to easily fit my N90s with its back resting on the bottom. So in most cases I need to remove the big lens and change it to a very thin lens like AF20 1:2.8.

Strength:

Built like a tank. Fast to work out of. Inconspicuous. Voluminous.

Weakness:

Bag does not completely seal against elements.

As much as I try other bags I keep coming back to the F-4AF. I like to work quickly and this bag makes it very easy to get at your equipment in a hurry. The bag is also low-profile for those that don't want to attract a lot of attention. This bag will hold an F100 with power grip and attached 80-200 f/2.8 for quick action. The huge side pockets are great and I keep a brick of film in one and a lens or flash in the other. if you work in a photojournalistic style, there is nothing out there that will beat this bag, including the LowePro knockoff Reporter bags.

Strength:

Simple design

Weakness:

Not enough protection for gear when carrying body with 2-3 lenses, not enough protection against rain

I thought I liked this bag and Domke bags in general but found myself concern during one of our all too regular rain storms here in Florida and I hated that when carrying a bag full of gear, I could hear lenses rubbing against other gear. I recently discover Lowe Pro Reporter bag which I find takes the Domke idea and makes it better, much better, I'm using a Reporter 300 now and love it. I hate bulky bags that bounce of your hip and not really made to work out of, do yourself a favor and go check out a Lowe Pro Reporter, if you like Domke bags, you will love the Reporter bags, great warrenty too.

Strength:

Compact size, hold enough gear, good-looking bag, Big flap is great -no need to lock. Sides pockets are large enough to put large flash or point-and-shoot camera.

Weakness:

Removable bottom insert (so I can remove it before put to washer/dryer)

This is a great camera bag if you have an SLR or rangefinder. It can hold one camera with lens attached and other 2 lenses (or one lens and one flash) plus other 2 BIG side pocket. I found I use it more than my F2. Putting the backpack strap on, it's very compact for biking/hiking. I got the detachable belt from outdoor store and hook it to F-4AF. Wow! I have a nice belt-bag.

Model Reviewed: F-4AF Pro System Bag

Strength:

Simple, functional design; well built.

Weakness:

I'm not fond of the hook that keeps the bag closed because I don't think it allows for easy one-handed operation, but that isn't a big problem because the way the bag is designed with the flap going all the way down the front of the bag, you don't really need to secure the hook. At least I don't. Also, the top cover gets sqeezed by the hardware (where the strap is attached) so somtimes, you need to fiddle with the cover so it completely covers the opening. Still, I consider these to be minor conerns.

I wanted a smaller case that I wouldn't dread taking with me, and that's exactly what this case is. I take a camera body, a couple zooms, a flash, and other smaller stuff. For that, it's great.

Model Reviewed: F-4AF Pro System Bag

Strength:

Very discreet and functional. Deep enough to hold handle-mount type Metz flashes. Generous cargo pockets which easily swallows a quantum turbo pack. Great size for holding just a simple 2-bodies, 2- to 3-zooms, & 1-flash kit.

Weakness:

Canvas isn't exactly weather-proof. Becomes bulky when overpacked and would tend to bounce against body. Quite pricey for its size.

A great alternative to the Domke F2 or J1 style softcases when the photo opportunity does not call for the "works" of gears. Small and light enough to wear it on a shoulder while shooting and large enough to carry sufficient equipment. Could be a superb case to hold just the necessary photo gears for walking tours while the huge "mothership" holding everything stays in the hotel safe. This bag is styled for photographers who do not mind to be a little bit subtle.

Camera bags fall into two categories, STORAGE or WORKING. The Domke F-4AF Pro System Bag is a WORKING camera bag. It combines the right amount of protection with accessibility to your equipment. This is an excellent companion to the F-2. A great bag for light assignments, you just throw in a camera body with a lens attached, a second lens, film, bottle water, and a few snacks, then go out and shoot.
