Strength:

resolution
size
weight
easy of use
2 way system (upgradeble with other lenses)
7 AF focus points (pretty unique in the date and origin of the camera)
fine handeling
no fuss menus
good af
good options even a dummy auto mode is still there

Weakness:

Darn darn slow when the buffer ius full even with a fast CF card it tkaes 35 seconds average which to me feel like ages until the camera has written the files to the CF card.

The Canon Eos 300 D , aka Kiss Digital aka Digital Rebel is still a good camera though it lacks one major thing : it is perhaps the slowest writing digital single lens reflex i know off . But there is more . it still is a good camera , the menu is very easy to understand, it is simple in use and i produces nice colours and rich detail pctures with a good resolution of 6.3 mp effective

it is a light weight camera with the 18-55 kitlens , i replaced the kitlens for the more expensisve 18-55 IS (with stabilsation) and it helps me to increase the number of good shots even at this range of 28.8 mm 88 mm (converted to 35mm)

the canon is a good and well known digital camera i love it , can recommend it for those who are not in a hurry and can wait 35 second until the 4 frames of pictures are written on the Compact flash card.

It is a semi professional model officially but even pro's use it , i would not consider my self to be a professional user but with my 24-85 Goldfinger lens i almost could fool a few ;-)

This camera get better if the lenses are better , the kit lens is a good lens and for the budget above average in perfomance the IS version i have adds stablisation to it , allowing to shoot 3 stops longer what without is olny with very stable hands would have been posssible

The iso range gows from 100 iso (or asa as was in 35 mm film days) to 1600 iso , offcourse the lowest iso is the best but outdoors 800 iso is still usuable above that it get grainy and 1600 iso is only usueable after noise ninja or so

But agian said it is my personal opniioun others may think different about it.
the knobs are in the rioght place , the viewfinder is good, and you instanly see the selut of your handeling on the small dsiplay but it is possible to enlarge the image to explicit detail to see if it is really sharp

saw photos of it on a large sony bravia of a friend and they looked wounderfull detailed and that for this small amount of money paid

i paid it for the charger and the accu oir battery the camera was for free as being defective what it wasn't defective i found out after putting in a fresh battery or accu

It takes BP-511 batteries the ones from canon are 1100 mAh with a 18--55 IS lens i advice 3600 mAh accu 's since the is consumes a lot miore than the normal kit lens

it is a two way camera for the newer CANON EF-S lenses and for the older CANON EF lenses . THis is fine so you can buy beeter lensens second hand and invest in good glass , the weird thing is that this camera gets better and better as long as you give tit good glass to work with
